Chicken Farm Field Trip~

The sweetest boy Colt bought two One tshirts for HollyMei's fundraiser and in the midst of his visit, he invited us to their chicken farm.

Today was the day and we could hardly wait until 4:15~

 Colt and his family were waiting on us and gave us the grand tour.

Both the boys were very brave to hold one of the week old chicks first.

It wasn't until EK and SJ stepped inside the house that they decided they would hold one too~

The littles loved Roscoe their dog as well.

Wish we had gotten a photo of the whole Yeargin family like they did of us~

Dear Yeargin family~

We LOVED our visit today and learned a lot about raising young chickens.

Thank you for taking time out of your busy farming life to share it all with our family.

We can't wait to come back again!!!

Farm Field Trip~

Story @ Growing Whole Hearts~

More Nature~

Today we were invited to my family's farm for a tractor ride~

 My brother Jason is planting corn this week so it was the perfect outing to learn about planting, fertilizing, and just plain hard work! The girls took a ride first and then the boys.

While we were at my parents' house, my dad gave EK a King snake skin~

 and that gave us another part of nature to explore~

When home she jumped on the IPad for more research then a journal entry complete with photo from the day/actual piece of snake skin.  

More John Deere~

I grew up on a farm in the same house my parent's still live in today~

 They {along with my brother Jason} still run the dairy farm and raise crops to feed the cows. Their house is surrounded by farm land. It takes lots of big equipment to farm the land. I had mentioned to Jason about giving the kids a ride in the tractor and today was the day! He is planting corn right next to my parents' house~

 SO beautiful this time of year... everything new and growing!

The big girls went for a ride first~

 They LOVED it!!! Then the boys... Payne was beside himself with excitement~

I'm pretty sure they honked the horn about 1000 times.

Evie didn't want any part of getting in that big tractor.  

We had a little play time on all the riding toys memommy has at her house~

AND Pop gave EK a snake skin he found UNDER their house! Yikes~ 

This just about thrilled EK beyond words and she has spent this afternoon researching king snakes. She wrote in her journal about them and even taped in part of the snake skin.

Today when we drove away from the farm I was awe struck at the awesome legacy daddy has given Jason and now he gives to our children~

Thank you Daddy and Jason for being the amazing men you are to our family.

Fun Friday {Farm Field Trip}~

I grew up on Martin Dairy Farm... has been in our family for at least 3 generations.

My grandmother {Mama Martin} lived across the road from the barn and I spent half my life there. 

 Today we took the littles for a field trip~

Brought back so many memories of when I was a little girl running around with all my cousins.

A few classes from North Hart were taking a tour and we tagged along to hear Jason, Ed, and Scott talk about farming.

Ms. Paula had milk and cookies for everyone~ 

 The calf barn was definitely my favorite part.

EK loved the baby calves, SJ love the chocolate milk, and WP loved the tractors~

 Running a dairy farm is huge work from milking 266 cows twice a day (2am and 2pm) to growing/harvesting all the food for the cows.

Couldn't be prouder of Jason and my daddy for the awesome farm they run along with lots of help.

Farm Field Trip~ {Fun Friday}

Today a few classes from North Hart were visiting my dad/brother's dairy farm so we decided to go too.

It was a really awesome way to get the feel of how it must have been for Mary and Joseph in the stable...

EK: cold, WP: stinky, SJ: dirty but perfect for God's plan to unfold.

 

   Jason, Daddy, and their crew really had everything looking great for the big visit.

We wrote thank you notes when we got home.

EK loved the baby calves.

SJ loved the chocolate milk.

WP loved the tractors.

 Thank you Jason, Mr. Ed, Ms. Paula, Carlos, and Manuel.

We enjoyed our Farm Field Trip!!!   

Hard Work!

My brother Jason is working long, hot, hard days

on the farm right now.

He is cutting corn from sunup to sundown.

My mom called today and wanted us to come up and shoot some photos.

My dad can't remember when the corn was so tall!
