Fun Friday... Pond Day~

Today was a great day for a field trip to the Pond.
We began the day with several pond activities including:
painting, writing, and assembling frog/turtle art,
made a food chain,
and a comic strip of 12 animals found at the pond~
Then it was time to head to my mom and dad's farm for Pond Day.
We drove over to the pasture and walked down the path looking for creatures (notice their new Halloween buckets:).
My dad (Pop) brought catfish food for the littles to throw and watch for fish~
Everyone loved being down along the edge but EK was the happiest chasing grasshoppers for Pop to use for fish bait.
(Nothing was biting... a little too hot).
We all piled in the back of Pop's truck to ride back through the pasture to our truck and we headed to their house.
EK found a beautiful sunflower and shelled a few butter beans getting a full farm morning in.
On the way home I asked if they loved going to the pond...
EK and WP both yelled 'YES'! and SJ said 'Not so much because of the smell'. (Dairy farm) Ha
Thank you Memommy and Pop for a VERY Fun Friday!!!

Morning Bible Time~

I know I have shared about our Morning Bible Time but wanted to share a really wonderful resource we added.
In addition to our Bible story, writing and drawing about our daily Bible verse, we have been using Steve Smith's Hide 'em in your Heart CDs. The kids LOVE them and I hear them singing scripture all day long~
And the really wonderful thing is I raised my big girls on these songs and they can still sing them today...
They really are 'Hidden in their Hearts'!!!

Matt 19:14
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Play with Me~

We are rowing Play with Me this week. It may well be a favorite as of the very first day because it is full of animals! Meadow and pond animals... some of which we see and hold on a daily basis. :)
On Mondays we always read our story with a cold read and reread knowing the story line. It is important for children to get the flow of the story so I always try to do a storytelling activity to be used everyday while reading.
Today after the second reading I had the girls decide what the story made them think of (connection) and they wrote in their journal.
They also matched riddles and the animals to use for retelling.
EK loved reading the riddles and SJ loved guessing!
It's going to be a very fun week!

Birthdays, Stitches, and a Wedding~

Rosie and Leighton celebrated their birthdays four days apart, and we had a ball at Leighton's Magical Unicorn Waterslide 4 YO party~ It...
