A "Good" Fun Friday~

Today I read Benjamin's Box and used our Resurrection Eggs to tell the story of Easter~
We made our own stained glass suncatcher eggs too.

This was our last day reading The Dutchess Bakes a Cake and I pulled out my FAV cake recipe~
{Chocolate Pound Cake}
EK and SJ Baked a Cake of their own~
Meanwhile the little kids stuffed eggs for our big hunt on Sunday
and while the cake baked, they hid and found tons of empty eggs~
This was Holly's first experience with egg hunting and she caught on quick!
The cake turned out perfect~
AND tasted even better!!!
We all decided EK and SJ are better bakers than the Dutchess in the story. :)

What's On Your Plate?~

Today we read The Dutchess Bakes a Cake again and the kids noticed how big
the people in the story became when they ate too much cake.

It got us thinking about the plates we eat on and what goes on those plates.
I showed them the two sized plates we use for everyday
and asked why we ALL use the smaller of the two~
We talked portion size and cut a circle to represent our plates to glue in our journals.
We talked about choosing foods of all colors for our plates representing four food groups:
grains, proteins, dairy, and veg/fruits.
They cut and drew foods for all 4 areas and we recorded in our journals.

Evie asked where we would put our cookie or ice cream...
The boys spoke up to say- We never put our dessert on our plate. haha
Good answer. :)

FIAR: The Dutchess Bakes a Cake~

The kids continue to learn how we are Royalty in God's family at church
and we loved watching our videos from Sunday today at home~
We are using the theme of Royalty this week with our FIAR book,
We were SO blessed by the best neighbor ever, Ms. Judy, with Easter surprises and cupCAKES!.
After reading this sweet adorable book, we enjoyed a yummy snack of cupcakes and tea.
The little kids focused on locating United Kingdom across the Atlantic while
EK and SJ made a Story Map little book~
Our first day of this super cute story was awesome!!!
