Eye Dr and Library~

SJ&WP had eye appts this morning and they went very well~

 We ran a few errands, ate lunch, and chanced the library.
First time we had gone since Calla has been home~

She did pretty well other than pulling books, dropping them on the floor, and me reshelving them all.
We came out with a walking baby and stroller full of books.
All in all a very good day!!!

Ankerich Academy Library~

As if I needed anything else to do the week before the wedding...
I pulled all our books together and made about 7 categories~

For each category I painted the bottom spine with acrylic paint for color code~

I organized them all in rainbow order on the shelves and ready for check out~

They are welcome to shelve their books back and choose others as often as they please~

They are still excited about our library system and have a stack of books for rest every day!

National Library Week~

Celebrated with a trip to the library!

Fun Friday~ {Library and Bookstore}

One of Miss Rumphius' jobs was being a librarian 

so we went on a field trip to the library for storytime~

and the bookstore!

The perfect Fun Friday for all my book loving kids!

Hodgepodge {Madline and Apples}~

Yesterday we finished up our row of all things Madeline and today moved on to apples since we are going on a field trip to the mountains tomorrow.

I picked out a couple of books to read~

 and both showed the changes an apple tree makes through the seasons of the year.

We divided paper into four sections and made winter, spring, summer, and fall apple trees~

Even Evie loved making this project for our art wall!

EK, SJ, and I also spent some time simplifying once again their school supplies and books.

Over the past two years, we have used the rainbow drawers for their work and decided they might best be used by the boys/Evie~

I bought two containers and color hanging folders for both girls.

 We organized their same materials into the same color folders but in a more simple way.

They still follow the same schedule/concept of completing work in each folder but takes up WAY less space and can be moved to any area we might want to work inside or out.

The boys and Evie LOVE that their work is now in the rainbow drawers and do one color per day.

I have begun letter/number of the week with them and they are learning like crazy!

Yesterday we made a trip to the library and today~

 This is where they went as soon as lunch was finished.

LOVE reading to them before our rest time.

 All about the Farm!

White Boards and Books~

I had two white boards that just weren't being used that much SO I wrote letters on one and numbers on the other with Sharpies~

 Right now the littles are matching capitals only and numbers 1-10 but I can see it moving to matching upper and lower case, magnetic pics for beginning sounds and many other ideas to come. This is usually the first thing they choose to work on each day!

We are planning to school through the summer with a more relaxed schedule. Our vacation is in June so I thought I would do a beach unit with them before and after. I decided to search for books on Amazon~

  then request them from the library... {worked like a charm}... so far we have a pretty big stack to run by and pick up! Going to be a fun summer for sure!

Art and Library~

Today was an Art and Library Day~

We gathered every single children's book in our house to create our very own library. There are three very happy kids reading up a storm!!!
