The Christmas Humbugs~

The story request for today was The Christmas Humbugs which we read every year
but is always a favorite~

Our poetry activity today was The 'Wh' Poem so after reading our book
we wrote this cute poem about Humbugs~

This year I wanted to do something different and while in Walmart saw big pompoms
and decided we would make Humbugs with them~

I had some big old fashioned clothespins to glue everything on to.
First we chose a big pompom and glued it first along with eyes and a red ribbon hanger~

 Next we strung bells of the ends of a pipe cleaner and hot glued it to pin as well.
We used big sequins for the wings~

 For the stockings we twisted red and white pipe cleaners and wound them around the legs~

 Everyone wanted their humbug at the top of the tree so they would surely spy~

Christmas Spirit from everyone.
(Well, Most of the time)

The Christmas Spirit~

Today we read The Christmas Humbugs (affiliant) and had a discussion about having Christmas Spirit~

 Then we pulled out the  humbug patterns for tracing, cutting, and gluing.

This may seem like a canned art activity with no creativity but

it was amazing fine motor practice for the boys and bitties to hold a pattern to trace

then cut, assemble, and glue just by looking at the example~

EK helped PC, SJ helped WP, and EC helped HM.

We added tons of bling and then made a Peace Promise.

Each thought of a way they could keep the Christmas Spirit in our home

and we wrote it on our Humbugs.

NOW... let's see if it works. :)

Schooling Through the Holidays~

School was back in session today and we declared it a Christmas in front of the fire on the floor day.

For the month of December, we are changing it up a bit starting with Truth in the Tinsel every morning~

 The first year we did Tinsel I only had EK and SJ so we did the ornament crafts and had a ball.

The next year we had WP and used the pdf ornaments hanging them on indiviual trees but this year I made an executive decision we would use the paper ornaments but glue them in our journals for writing.

I printed each one the ornament this morning (actually 3 since we are starting a little late), each colored while I read the devotional and scripture, then we glued into journals and added a word {3 littles} or scripture {copywork for EK & SJ}. 

We will go through each ornament every day and tell the story of Jesus.

A low key way to celebrate Advent!

I have many Christmas books from my teaching years so we are choosing a new one each day to read and do some sort of art.

 We all traced parts, cut, and assembled our very Christmas Humbug then once dry they all gave me one way they would keep the Humbugs away from our home this season.
