EK's 11th Birthday Family Party~

Friday, March 31, 2017

With our beach trip coming, we decided we should celebrate EK's 11th birthday before we left~
Memommy, Pop, big sisters, and Jason's family all came to eat dinner and cake~
When I asked EK what kind of cake she wanted, she chose Funfetti cupcakes~
We all had such a wonderful evening together~
Happy 11the birthday EK!

Free Write Photo Friday Frenzy~

Today for Free Write I asked each child to choose a photo from my camera roll
of something they wanted to remember always and I printed them~
Then I set our 5 min timer for thinking time and then again for writing.
Even Calla joined in~
Their stories were beautiful and certainly wonderful memories forever~
The next thing was author chair share...
everyone read their story and we celebrated~
Ended the morning with lots activities.

Spring Evenings~

Wednesday, March 29, 2017

Spring evenings are for dinner outside at our big table~
and bike rides together!

An Egg is Quiet~

We checked out lots of spring books from the library recommended by Sarah @ Read Aloud Revival
and one of them was An Egg is Quiet.
I also saw this cute bird and egg activity and Evie begged to make it so...
 Such a great book~
We glued them into our journals and made a pocket for the patterns we traced~
in case they would like to make more on their own.

Poetry Teatime~

Tuesday, March 28, 2017

We ordered Brain Boosting Herbal Tea and made it in our big server~
It was a very big hit, especially for Calla~
We love Poetry Teatime!!!

A Terrible Accident~

We were outside for our afternoon playtime, and Evie was racing her brothers on scooters~

She was winning the race until her scooter slid out from under her sending her to the asphalt and popping her chin wide open~
I could NOT believe how big it was and knew she would need stitches.
I scooped her up and waited for Amelia and Scott to get here so we could take her.

Evie was very upset on the way asking over and over what was going to happen.
Scott and I tried to relieve her fears but she became more and more stressed.

Finally the EK dr came in and explained what he was going to do
and left for a few more minutes.
Scott and I prayed over her and stood amazed as a miraculous peace swept over Evie
and she never flinched or cried AT ALL while they cleaned, deadened, and stitched up her chin~
Such a brave and beautiful girl with 8 stitches to go home and show her brothers.
Everyone was SO proud of her and believe she will make a full recovery!!!

Ek's New Bike~

Because we would be gone for EK's birthday, Scott took her to pick out a new bike early~
Can you imagine their surprise when they found a $150 bike on clearance for $35!
Now that's a deal!
Happy early 11th birthday EK!!!

Happy 11 Years Forever EllaKate~

Monday, March 27, 2017

We did a little reminiscing about our journey to EK 11 years ago.
The big girls were little back then and SO excited when they found out we would travel to the airport in a limo~

Here is our baby on EllaKate Day 2006~

Our dreams come true~

Back to the present, we had to take Calla for her last infectious disease appt~
She got the best report and dismissed forever unless fever comes back!

To celebrate this great news and EK's Forever family day, we went to the Varsity for lunch~
Took a little field trip to Fernbank~

It was the BEST day and pretty sure EK loved it as much as these worn out three BUT we weren't done...

We stopped by to see Savannah and the boys~
Both boys were angels and just look at this cute mom~
 Happy EK Day sweet EllaKate!!!

Spring Clothes~

Sunday, March 26, 2017

It is such a big deal to get everyone's clothes changed for the new season~
But we knocked it out, AND Calla moved back upstairs with her sisters!
What a big girl!!!

Saturday, March 25, 2017

We LOVE it when Rosie comes home for the weekend~
and ecstatic when she chooses to spend her Spring Break with us!!!
Love you Rosie!!!

Learning ALL the Time~

Friday, March 24, 2017

Lots of mornings before we start school, they can be found in the sunroom all together creating something~
And the day we finished putting in the rocks for table~
Holly and Evie grabbed our rock books and started matching them up~

SJ also created her own lean to with sticks~
Learning ALL the time!

My Little Writers~

Thursday, March 23, 2017

Evie chose to sketch in her journal all by herself and~
Calla grabbed a dry erase marker and practiced her writing too.

Building writing skills is much more than pencil grip.
Writing on big spaces like sliding glass doors is a favorite around here.

LOVE my Boys~

Watch her go~
Good job Holly!!!

Monday Art Study~

Monday, March 20, 2017

I NEVER tire of my children gathered around our table doing whatever, but making art is a favorite.
.
“Every child should leave school with at least a couple of hundred pictures by great masters hanging permanently in the halls of his imagination . . . At any rate he should go forth well furnished because imagination has the property of magical expansion, the more it holds the more it will hold” (Vol. 6, p. 43). ~Charlotte Mason

What a Weekend~

Sunday, March 19, 2017

With the spring comes lots and lots of yard work which we LOVE!
We had moved our big 'Parenthood' table into the grass but mosquitoes and ants were terrible so~
We decided to make the space better with a brick and river rock~

We had super wonderful helpers~
Gave the table a little love too~

Spent Sunday enjoying outside with Macy~
Exploring our dried up cove~

Watching these sweet ones play~
and enjoying beautiful sunsets~
Such a wonderful weekend!!!
