Thanksgiving: Part 2

Saturday, November 26, 2016

It was SO wonderful to have everyone together to celebrate Thanksgiving~

There isn't anything I'm more thankful for than My People!!!

Thanksgiving Round One~

Thursday, November 24, 2016

Happy Thanksgiving from our family to your's.
We enjoyed a wonderful lunch with my parents and sister's family~
Amelia and Rosie were home and Savannah's little family was flying home from San Diego~
 Sam, Rebecca, Chris, and Marcia~
Looking forward to Round #2 on Saturday!!!

A New Truck~

Monday, November 21, 2016

You might remember we test drove the Nissan NV and liked it but decided it was too much vehicle for our family right now.
Our old 2005 Yukon XL was falling apart with no air or heat and rattled horribly.
We decided to find a used 'new to us' truck like we already had and found this white Suburban~
In the old truck, we had added a Little Passenger Seat to the back for extra seating and only had to order a new installation kit to reinstall.
Can't recommend this company more for their customer service in shipping our kit on a Friday and us receiving it on Monday!
That afternoon, Scott and I spent an hour and half reinstalling~
With a little help from our kiddos, then we were back in business and took our first ride with everyone in tow~
We love our Little Passenger Seat and our new Suburban named Sug!

Sparkle Jars~

I have never been a chore chart person because it is just something else to keep up with but I am finding without a system, most of the housework is falling on me.
NOT good! Can't do it all.
I saw an IG post of someone using sticks for chores and threw my own spin on it.

I wrote initials on one end and a check on the other along with 5-6 chores for each dynamic duo~
Then I placed them in a Sparkle Jar representing out our house (when clean) sparkles~
They are to pick as a team one chore each day to complete then flip the stick to checked~
At the end of the week if all sticks are checked, they have the weekend off and earn their weekend movie!
So far, it is working like a charm and I have less work on myself.
AND I am raising responsible little humans to be successful adults!!!

Breakfast Helpers~

Friday, November 18, 2016

It's a beautiful thing when the kitchen is full of little helpers~
Even the ones who SIT on the counter to work. :)

Ben Curtis Day~

Wednesday, November 16, 2016

Josh was out of town for the week so to break up the week for driving to the babysitter,
Savannah asked if we might come out and spend the day with BC.
Wow! Such a hard decision~
It was a beautiful day watching a sweet friendship bloom between the babies!

I wrote about it @ A Beautiful Symphony:

I’m able to sneak time with each of my children when she’s occupied. They all know I love them the most! I knew this was going to be tricky so I prepared for it.

What I didn’t realize was the difficulty helping my new child and only grandchild know I loved them both. Calla has been so protective of my affection, she didn’t want me loving on grandson. Heart wrenching to choose between them. Sometimes Scott would take Calla so I could hold BC, but I had to choose her the most. That’s hard on a mama/grandmama’s heart. The choosing.

After holding me captive for almost 6 months, Calla was able to share my attention with BC yesterday. They have learned the my turn-your turn game. It’s beautiful!

And the icing on the cake? Her love tank is finally full enough to overflow on others. She’s able to give some away. Now THAT’S beautiful!!!

Art Study~

Monday, November 14, 2016

Our Simply Charlotte Mason is definitely one of our favorite weekly studies, and we are on our second this year: Van Gogh~
I added a few go along books to enrich our study including this book with a project at the end~
Everyone chose to draw their own masterpiece then add a starry night background~

The Ankerich Van Goghs~
We keep all our art study materials in this basket from Target~

And EK drew this beautiful postcard for Memommy~
Love the artists that are blooming here each day!

Orphan Sunday~

Sunday, November 13, 2016

There is no doubt God chose these children to be in our family. The moment I saw their face I knew.

Now when I look on these faces, my heart cries. Once all alone, sad, cold, hungry, afraid, and abandoned. They were orphans with no love, joy, or hope.

Today there are 153 million orphaned children waiting for forever love. Let you heart settle on that for a little while.

Don't you have love to give? Isn't there room around your table? Can't you squeeze one more bed into your house? Doesn't Jesus ask you to take care of the orphans?

Quote from David Platt
“We learned that orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.” – Radical by David Platt.

This is certainly true for our children. Everything changed! Once we knew them, we could barely wait to have them in our arms. These are the faces of real little souls that were lost and now found. The ones that have broken our hearts for every other Orphan in the world!

Would you spend this one day and pray how God would use you in the plight of the orphan~ a child is most definitely needing you to!!! James 1:27

Saturday Morning Movie & Muffins~

Saturday, November 12, 2016

In living the#bravewriterlifestyle, we tried Friday Movie Night but we're young ones who need sleep and the movie often ran into our bedtime. SO we compromised and began a new tradition today. Saturday Morning Movie & Muffins~

And to continue that alliteration we watched Mulan. It was the perfect time because kids just want to veg with tv on Saturday mornings anyway. Thank you @juliebravewriter for a beautiful model in schooling our children.

This and That~

Friday, November 11, 2016

I am so behind with check ups these days so it was Evie and Holly's turn.
Holly weighed 5 more pounds than Evie and made it on the charts.
Evie is still in the 0%ile club but it's all good~
Calla has had several firsts this week...
The first time she ever sat in a stroller and saved her mama's back!
First time she ever stood on her own two feet in the same room as Macy!
(Just a sweet photo of SJ reading to Macy ((sorry about the wall she ate behind them)))
And Calla sat in front of her very first fire this week~
Been a pretty wonderful week!

New Favorite Schooling Tool~

A Recipe Book Holder!!!
We found them on Amazon~
and they hold all sizes of books open for the kids to draw and write from~
Just look at their beautiful sketching~
A GREAT tool to have handy!!!

Puzzle Crazy~

Monday, November 7, 2016

We were at the $1 Store picking up a couple of things, and SJ asked if she could get a puzzle~
Yes, and that's all it took!
We are puzzle crazy now. When we finish a 500 piece one, we cover it modge podge
and place it in our finished puzzle drawer. Goals to fill it full~
We also picked a few 48 piece ones, and Evie is awesome at it too!
(Calla likes to freak her out by touching it:)

Sunday Day Trip~

Sunday, November 6, 2016

We took the kids to the mountains for a little hiking and made it as far as Tallulah Gorge which was spectacular~
Except for the smoke coming from NC forest fires.
It was so bad, we came back home to picnic right on the shores of our own Lake Hartwell!
We were reminded how easy we take for granted clean fresh air!!!

Writing Boys~

Friday, November 4, 2016

I moved the boys' rolling cart into their room with books, journals, and drawing caddy~
They have gone crazy copying and drawing out of their books~
I LOVE when they come up with things on their own and don't even know they are learning!

Wednesday, November 2, 2016

SJ and I picked up a 500 piece puzzle at the $1 store and have been hooked every since~
We finished it in a couple of days and painted a few coats of modge podge on it.
Now it is sealed together and we can't wait to start another one!!!

Pumpkin Carving~

Tuesday, November 1, 2016

Well we never did get our pumpkin carved before Halloween so we did the day after~
and Calla LOVED pulling out the pulp and seeds~
Glad we decided to go ahead with this fun tradition!
Meet Jacko, our jack-o-lantern!!!
