How can it be time for Rosie to be back at school?
Didn't summer just begin?
The sweet thing about it all...
An adorable cottage we got decorate and make a home~

The kids were awesome and we worked for about 5 hours~

The living area turned out beautiful
And Rosie's room gorgeous~

She worked all summer painting this furniture and collecting the things Jojo would choose
Creating her very own 'Magnolia' sanctuary.

We are gonna miss her here at home but it is such a sweet thought to know she lives in a very beautiful place.
Love you like crazy Rosekapose!!!

Fun Friday: Praying Mantis

Yesterday EK found a praying mantis on our butterfly bush
And put it in a jar to observe~
She spent the afternoon researching
And we let her teach us all she knew this morning.
We also watched a drawing video and added a page to our nature journals~
We also worked on our geography maps for beautiful feet study.

We were done by 10 and at the pool for MORE fun~
Look at this pic of EK reading her Kindle by the pool...she's growing up!
And Popsicles are ALWAYS a hit!
A VERY Happy Fun Friday!

Simple Sunday Lake Style~

Sunday, July 24, 2016

Living on the lake sure has its perks~
We chose to take this cute crew for a lake day and I can't believe I let Calla swim!

The favorite thing was stopping at a couple of islands for exploring~
Calla even wanted to be dropped into the water because the other kids were jumping off the front~
First mate was fun and eating lots of snacks~
We made it all the way down to the dam for some more island time~
There were so many cool rocks and the water was very clear.
I think they could have stayed for hours.
Already planning our next lake adventure!!!
Lake living is the perfect life for our family!

Two Months w/ Calla~

Saturday, July 23, 2016

If you are an adoptive mom then you know what two months being loved means~

It's truly amazing to see the change in their face (especially the eyes)~

A light has been switched on~

and her soul has been released to freedom~

The first photos of each two was taken in China and I matched beside one took today~

There are still times she gazes off in deep thought~

We know she is figuring out her new world~

SO sick in China and SO well here at home~

SO many things in China she didn't like and hardly anything at home she won't try~

She gave us a little of her personality and now we are blessed by even more~

She knew what she wanted then and she will tell you what she wants now~

We are SO thankful to have had this sweet one in our arms for two months~
And know her forever is only getting sweeter and sweeter!!!

The Book House~

Wednesday, July 20, 2016

I saw a suggestion by Sarah @ Read Aloud Revival to get My Book House books and read them all to your children, I took her up on it and wouldn't you know the first poem in book one was by Robert Louis Stevenson~
So we used it for copy work and drew what makes us happy!

There are lots of ways to get the Bible hid in our hearts and we love using our iPods for Bible App for Kids~
Today when the big kids grabbed their devices, Calla ran to get her iPod too.
{A little musical phone Nana let her bring home this weekend:}
It's so sweet how she wants to do whatever the big kids are doing.

Calla's Eye Appointment~

Monday, July 18, 2016

Calla had an eye appointment today because she failed the eye exam at pediatrician.
She was all smiles until they sat us in the Exam Chair~
The good news: There is nothing to correct now so she will have a follow up in six months!
Her big smile came back when we walked out of the office.
YAY Calla! check that off our big fat list!!!

Scott and I were able to get away for a short date and we took little bit with us again~
She kept looking at how beautiful she was once she was ready.
She loved riding in her daddy's new truck and experienced her first grocery store run.
Precious little one being loved on big!!!

Blogging Workflow Basics ALL From my IPhone

I have a couple of confessions.

1. I shoot the majority of my photos with my iPhone and if I shoot with my Sony a6000, my photos can be synced to my camera roll via wifi created by my camera. (It's the main reason I chose it other than great photo quality)

2. I blog most often right from my phone. It's easy to do on the go with the big commotion going on around me. πŸ˜‰

I've had a few people to ask me how I'm able to blog so frequently and turn out the blog books. Follow along to see my workflow. (PS I'm blogging right now from my phone)

Most of my blog posts revolve around photos~
I take lots and lots of photos and use many for posts. Instead of loading them all one at a time, I like making collages with ~

Once I have that saved, I like to edit just a smidge using VSCO~

Basically I bump my exposure +2 and contrast +1 then sharpen +2 then save. Sometimes I pop with a filter using A Color Story~

If words are necessary, Word Swag is the best~

FINALLY it is time to blog with this Blogger App~
I'm sure there is a YouTube video to tutor you through BlogTouch but pretty sure you're smart enough to figure it out.

There you go|~
A published post right from the ease of my IPhone!!!

Oh and yes blogging from my computer is an option but sitting with computer on hand all that much these days.

And this gets easier and easier the more you blog.

Fun Friday~ {Nature Prints}

Today we read from our BF Geography Study: Tree and the Trail and moved onto Nature Study.

Our children's book choice was The Night Gardener.

We learned that the trees growing or should I say dying on our front stoop are topiaries.

This was a sweet story of one man's gift to a community and how he inspires a little boy to follow in his footsteps~
We enjoyed looking through this Nature Journal book. It gave us ideas of drawing wildflowers out in our yard.

I challenged the kids to scout out and find a flower/leaf to use for a fun activity. They came back to find big index cards and a hammer~
We placed the nature treasures between the index cards then pounded the color out of plants to the paper. They turned out beautiful so we laminated and added to our nature journals. Nothing fancy but I'm sure they won't ever forget!!!
A great Fun Friday!!!

Kindergarten Girls FIAR Routine~

With 5 different levels being taught in our school this year, it is important to simplify. For the K girls I am using Before Five in a Row first and will move on to FIAR. For now I have a basket of books and the girls take turns choosing a book. We read, narrate the story, talk about our favorite parts, and go to journals.

This week they have chosen The Carrot Seed: They drew a carrot plant in position to the ground and a self portrait~

The Big Green Pocketbook: I printed a green pocketbook and the items that went inside so we could retell the story~

Kittens for Keeps: We had a cat drawing lesson and they watercolored it~

Corduroy: We used my Creative Memories things to punch circles then made our own Corduroy. I had them tell me their favorite part and I wrote for them~

They have loved having a new story each day and it is easy to get a little activity together for them.
We will continue this routine until we finish all of the books then switch over to FIAR spending more time on each book.

AND THIS is why I am so diligent to blog what we do as a family and at school~
Our 2015-16 School Blog book came today and they LOVED it!
I promise these blog books are chosen every single day and Calla even found herself in this book!
Worth every single penny!!!
