Happy Easter~

Sunday, March 31, 2013

The morning began with Easter baskets and an egg hunt after everyone changed into their new swim suits~
Loved that when they began opening eggs to dump the candy they found some that were empty and shouted...
Jesus is Alive!!! :)

After a quick breakfast, we all got ready and headed to church for the first time since coming home from China~

The girls had on dresses that the big girls had worn once upon a time~ legacy at best!

After a great time of worship @ our church and a delicious lunch with our family, it was time for a NEW family photo don't you know!!!~
And our children did not disappoint!!!
They know how to make this mom and dad SO happy!

We spent the afternoon just hanging outside enjoying our beautiful weather and sharing family time~
Definitely one of the best Easters ever!!!

Matthew 28:6
"He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay."

Our Egg Hunt~

Saturday, March 30, 2013

Today was the perfect day for family over and an egg hunt!
It felt so wonderful to be outside with everyone feeling better.
The bigs and big littles hid the eggs while the little littles watched through the front door~
They could barely wait for Max, Addie, and Slate to arrive... Memommy too!!!

After a sweet photo of the whole crowd... they were off~
Such an awesome sight to see Payne and Evie running for their very first Easter eggs ever!

LOTS of eggs~
 AND candy! :)

Such a fun afternoon just spending time together~
and then finished it off with grilled hotdogs!
Looking forward to having them all back over tomorrow for a delicious lunch and more egg hunting I am sure!
Happy Easter everyone!!!

Good Friday~

Friday, March 29, 2013

All week everyone has looked forward to Fun Friday this week.
Always with a holiday coming Fun Friday seems to be just a little 'funner'. :)
We began reading our last 3 parts of Benjamin's Box, opening the last 3 Resurrection Eggs, and completing the last 3 pages of our flip books.
We all took turns reading back through our book and retelling the story of Jesus' Resurrection.
Our BFIAR book this week has been If Jesus Came to My House and I think it is one of the sweetest books I've read to them this year! They all listened carefully and their faces so serious as they thought of what it would be like to have Jesus come over.
We've done lots of talking and observing using this book but today as I read I decided to pull out paper for them to create their own houses~
They worked SO hard and turned out adorable. I had each one think what they would do if Jesus visited their house and we wrote it down.
I glued the roof of their house to the paper so they could lift it up to read their story.
We hung them on our Art Wall~
I was also able to finally get P&E's silhouette's done and hung a few extra things EK&SJ have made in the afternoons while the others napped.
We headed to the kitchen next to decorate eggs that had been baking in the oven.
Some had cracked and they were all quick to point them out.
It was the perfect time to talk about us not being perfect and just like the eggs we are all cracked. That's why Jesus died on the cross for us... for our cracks (sins) and when He comes to live in our hearts, we become beautiful just like our eggs once they are decorated...
I could see the wheels turning once again. I think this week has been a big growing week for each of them. I hope Jesus is becoming more real to them than ever before~
I have not been anywhere to buy egg decorating kits so I winged it and tried food coloring... it worked! Each one dyed the water and dropped in an egg. Once they were dry, they decorated with sharpies and stickers. Cute!
Our favorite thing to cook each Easter is Resurrection Rolls~
so after lunch, we enjoyed our yummy treat because...
Jesus IS Alive!!!!!
Mark 16:6
"Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him."

New Working Spaces~

Thursday, March 28, 2013

I wanted to create an 'art studio' for the littles in the sunroom and that required our white table to be moved.
They have LOVED the freedom to imagine and work with all sorts of mediums~
I found the perfect school table... all my early childhood friends will agree a kidney table is the best!!!
Today when we did school, I was able to reach everyone and teach a lot easier.
I actually left at the lowest point so they can choose to sit on the floor or on a stool

Reading Practice~

I think using the Bob books really are a great resource when teaching the littles to read.
SJ has really blossomed this year and works very hard.
Once we take a picture walk and make some predictions, we do a little word work~
Rainbow tracing and stamping.
Blossoming into a great reader!

Time is Love~

Yesterday was EK Day and she was the focus of the day...
choosing meals, order of school activities, and waiting for a little surprise to arrive at our door.
I finally checked tracking about 5pm and discovered it had been waiting in our mailbox all day.
She tore off to get it right away and was thrilled to open Scaredy Squirrel/ book~
Chinese was the choice for dinner so dad brought it home!
We ate, sang Happy EllaKate Day, and made a wish on a Great Wall of Chocolate dessert.
Last night after I had tucked her in and she called down the stairs to say...
"Mom, thanks for the best day ever"!

That was the greatest thing I could have wished to hear...
nothing spectacular about the day.
Time is Love... plain and simple.

EllaKate Day~ 7 Years!

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

How do 7 years pass so quickly?
Loving a precious child... that's how~
SO amazing that 7 years ago
our beautiful, beautiful EK became our daughter~
 and I began this blog.

2013~
There is no place this amazing little girl would rather be than outside playing, climbing trees, running with her dogs, and anything else she finds to do.
Can't image my life without this beautiful one... smart, funny, big heart, loves animals, artsy, joyful, serious, caring, helpful... well you get the message. A blessing beyond measure!!!

My friend Sheryl Brewer created this video for us not long after we brought EK home... it is only part of it but brings Tears every time!!!~

Lots of people tell often how wonderful we are to have adopted EK and her siblings... how amazing that we rescued them... how blessed they are to be in our family... BUT can I just say.!.!.!???

EK and her siblings are some of greatest blessings and gifts!
They actually rescued US from our own selfish lives!
WE are blessed because of them!
They have taught us more about God's love and Jesus' grace/mercy than any sermon or Bible study ever could have.
I shiver at the thought of missing out on this amazing journey God has us on.

Dear EllaKate~
There are no words for how much we love and adore you. You amaze us every day. Our greatest prayer for you is the day you give your life and purpose to Christ and then to watch His will unfold

The LORD bless you and keep you;
the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;
the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.
Numbers 6:24-6

In His Name we ask blessing on you!
Love Mommy and Daddy

Resurrection Eggs~

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Even with sick bay in full force, we still squeezed in some school.
I brought out Benjamin's Box and our resurrection eggs today~
We are a little late starting these so we read 3 parts.
I had small images of the story so we worked on 3 pages in our flip books. I had EK bring her bible down and taught her how to locate scripture. She found each one and highlighted with color pencils then recorded in her bible notebook. SJ copied her verse too!

We also threw a little art into the morning... this was the quietest they had been or were all day :)~
We watercolored Easter eggs and they turned out gorgeous when we removed the masking tape.
Can't wait to decorate our schoolroom with them.

Parade of Families~

A couple of weeks before the Lifeline banquet we traveled to Columbus to be interviewed about adoption with two other families. The video was shown @ the banquet and I am sharing with you in hopes your heart is touched for many waiting~
To be a part of a family that loves them beyond measure.
Blessings to you all as you watch and be moved.

Another One Down~

Monday, March 25, 2013

Payne began running a fever Sat night so today we headed to Dr. Steele~ {fever, croup, sore throat}
Plus three have sinus infections... Evie is healthy as a horse. :)
Thankful for meds and praying for everyone to be on the mend!

Blessings on Palm Sunday~

Sunday, March 24, 2013

Scott and Rosie left for church and I was home with the littles
{another one running a fever}.
I didn't dare want this beautiful day to go by without sharing the story of Jesus entering Jerusalem
We gathered in the school room and read from our Bible, prayed, and made our own palm branches~
EK ran upstairs to get the stick horse {donkey} so we could act out the story~
Everyone LOVED being Jesus and waving our palm branches~
They have pretty much worn them out today and can you guess what Payne has been singing with his instead of Hosanna?
Yes... Happy birthday! :)
Blessings on Palm Sunday!

John 12:13
They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, "Hosanna!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Blessed is the king of Israel!"

Evie and the Boys~

Saturday, March 23, 2013

Evie is a funny little bird at times.
The other day when I went to get my hair done Scott said she found a bag of clothes and worked her heart out putting on layer upon layer.
Whenever it is time for her to go to sleep (nap or night), I lay her on the big chair and she falls asleep immediately. Tonight I was watching a photog video while she was falling asleep...
And at one point I looked over to see she had gathered some of Payne's clothes off his pile I had been folding... pj pants, underwear, socks and put them all on. How did she do all that without me noticing?
Silly Evie... loves her some layers. :)

In other news...
The boys went to a birthday party together~
So the girls had an ice cream party of their own.

The boys had a great time~
and I'm pretty sure Payne sung Happy birthday one million times after he got home. LOL
I can't wait for his birthday in May... he is going to have a ball!!!
