Thankful on Day 30~

Friday, November 30, 2012

Today our amazing Rosie walked down the stairs, made her own breakfast, carried her own bookbag, and DROVE her car to school ALL for the first time in 6 weeks~
{Without crutches or a brace!}
We could be more Thankful for her amazing attitude through it all and the healing God has given her.

Advent for Advent~

Today we discovered the meaning of Advent and used our day to prepare~ Advent for Advent!
We read our Bible and talked about how most of it leads up to the greatest Gift ever~ Jesus.
I explained to them the month of December is a time to prepare for Christmas and will read through many scriptures on the journey.
I talked about the first part of 'Advent'ure being Advent SO we will be on an ADVENTure for the next weeks.
We made a chart of what we learned AND made up a song~
(EK filled in some of the blanks and SJ circled her sight words)
 {Our Advent Song~ tune: I'm a Little Teapot}
Last year we used Truth in the Tinsel as our Advent curriculum making each craft and hanging on our Jesse tree.
This year I am making things a little simpler by using the paper ornaments but then I wondered what to do with them.
We hit the jackpot at Target/Michael's yesterday/$1 aisle.
Found the cutest little trees to decorate and hang our ornaments on so today everyone made their very own Jesse tree~
We also made paper chains to count down days until Christmas and practiced counting to 100 by 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s. Made a dot paint tree too.

We painted a little wreath that will hold our advent candles to be lit starting this coming Sunday
And I am busy cutting our ornaments that will be hiding in our calendar pockets to be colored each day while we read our scripture, then hung on our trees.
A great Advent day for Advent!

One of the BEST Days!

Thursday, November 29, 2012

Rosie and I joked at one time there was no way she would be on crutches one day and the next not BUT...

That would be exactly what happened today!!!

We went for her 6 weeks to the day follow up appt today and Dr. Register said her knee was healed~ no more crutches and no more brace.

She will continue to take it easy and get stronger through PT.

We celebrated at dinner with Jessica and Hayden!!

In the words of Rosie~ "The happiest day of my life until I get my braces off!"

One of the BEST Days!!!

Waiting for TA~

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

Article 5 was picked up yesterday and so we are waiting for TA... Travel Approval so we can book our trip.
Our agency is giving us a 3-4 week wait and a friend is saying maybe 10 days to 2 weeks.
At this point there is little hope we will travel this year and that's ok too. It will allow us to enjoy the holidays with our family as is and bring on the new normal come the new year.

I've had a few friends ask how the littles will be spread throughout the house so here is a little tour...

The Boys will share WP's room connected to the master suite. They have a trundle bed and dresser plus lots of toys to keep them busy.

In the past, we have had co-sleepers or I have slept with little until they were asleep and then I moved to our bed. We will see how it goes this time. Who knows with two new littles. :) We like them being close to us!

The Girls moved upstairs when WP came home and they love their big room. We were able to squeeze in another bed for Evie although she won't be up there for a long while. Plan to have her down with us until we are all settled.

I guess it would be good if I cracked open these suitcases and get packing. I have SO much to do...
This will be the first trip to China without someone in tow. Haven't really let myself go there yet. Everyone says it will be WAY harder on me than them... we shall see. I know God has led us to leave them here and so we will gladly obey. Still doesn't keep my heart from hurting.

The Christmas Humbugs~

Today we read The Christmas Humbugs all about little Humbugs that come to spoil Christmas searching for more humbugs...
We talked how we would be keep the Christmas spirit in our house and NO humbugs.
EK: I will listen to mommy and daddy.
SJ: I will listen to mommy and do what she asks.
WP: I will play outside. :)
They loved making their own humbugs and hanging them up~
Praying a beautiful Christmas season for all of us!!!

Need a Smile~

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

SJ is here to give you one~
She makes me smile all day long. :)

Monday, November 26, 2012

Seem to be a little more hectic than other days and Mondays after a holiday weekend are major. A good major... You get the picture.
Today was a great school day and while in the middle of 'intense' :) teaching, our Christmas cards came. We could barely finish before tearing the box open!!!
After lunch the girls wanted to help so they stuffed every single envelope and did a little of the licking...

It always helps to have Faith singing and a steaming cup of coffee close by.
All that's left is addresses and stamps... Hoping to get them out this week!!!
✅ That off the big fat list.

In the Christmas Spirit~

Over the next weeks until Christmas we are sprinkling in a few of my favorite Christmas books along with our regular curriculum.
Yesterday we read Olive, the Other Reindeer and watched Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. We read a non-fiction reindeer book and compared what we know from each.
Each little created a Reindeer paper bag puppet and stapled a non-fiction little book on the back.
They have loved making their reindeer retell stories or read their fact book attached.

Thanksgiving 2~

Saturday, November 24, 2012

LOVED celebrating Thanksgiving 2 with my sister's family and Jessica tonight~
Best part (other than the people!) was mama's dressing! YUM!!!
Also enjoyed having Susan, Stephanie, and kids over too~
SO thankful for every single blessing that walked through my door over the last few days. God has blessed ALL of us so well.
Is Christmas Eve really one month from today???

Black Friday~

Friday, November 23, 2012

Was spent at home wrapping everything we had already bought~

With lots of little helpers!!

Christmas Card Photo Shoot~ {Happy Thanksgiving}

Thursday, November 22, 2012

Awhile ago I had decided I wouldn't send Christmas cards because our two babies weren't home
(and would just send announcements in January)
but on further discussion with Scott of how BUSY we would be in January, changed our minds and shot photos today.

No real thoughts for outfits... everyone chose what they wanted since I was thinking black and white anyway. Turned out everyone pretty much coordinated and I LOVED the color ones. :)

You can well imagine how tricky it can be shooting such a big family. Lots and lots of retakes.
Mama tried.
We propped the camera on the golfcart and tried.

We finally sat the camera on a kitchen stool and tried.
(PS... I need a tripod and remote!!!)
Bingo! Got THE ONE!! Ordered our cards!!!
Will post once they have been mailed. :)

I DID get some beautiful shots I LOVED~

Our Thanksgiving was SO wonderful having our children home to celebrate along with my parents. Of course we look forward to the day ALL our children are home but until then...

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NLT)

SO Thankful~

Wednesday, November 21, 2012

Day 21~ I am SO thankful for our Big girls!!! They taught us how to love unconditionally and forever; giving us all we needed to bring home our littles. It has been a beautiful few days having them all home. Today they went on a little shopping spree and pretty much finished up my Christmas shopping. THAT is something to really be thankful for!!!

I love you girls with ALL my heart and SO thankful for each of you!!! Thankful you love each other so much. Forever Best Friends!!!

A Playground Kind of Day~

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

Going back to yesterday... it was a playground, picnic, outside kind of day and we enjoyed it with a very sweet group of friends~
(Us moms LOVED watching our littles blend and become friends)
 @ a park in Sugar Hill~
(Seeing them all lined up together made us just squeeze each other in delight)
Would think they had always been best friends~
(Gave us time to grow closer together as friends too)
Just a sweet Playground Kind of Day!
(Already looking forward to our next get together!)

Home One Year~

Monday, November 19, 2012

WP has been Home One Year today.
How can one year have passed so quickly?
How could a little tiny 3 year old scared and tough~
Have bloomed into a (still tiny) four year old confident and oh so sweet? Full of personality, knowing exactly what he wants. SO polite and happy all the time. Able to make new friends and play kindly with his friend~
Today we met sweet friends at the park for a play date.
WP and Jake became big buddies and forever friends.
More photos tomorrow.

Sweet WP... we couldn't be more blessed with the last year we have had with you! You are ALL and SO much more than we ever dreamed you would be. God has blessed us big with you and know He has Special plans for your life. Look forward to watching that plan unfold.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Simply Sunday~

Sunday, November 18, 2012

Day 18~ Thankful for my little brother Jason and His amazing love for Jesus. Our family was blessed to hear him speak today @ Impact Church.

We also celebrated Amy's birthday with pizza and cookie cake!!! We loved making you feel special!!!

AND our social worker came for WP's one year visit this afternoon. She was amazed how much he had grown and matured. So sweet!!!

Happy birthday to my sister Marcia tomorrow!!! Wish we could make you feel special too~ next weekend for sure!!!

A wonderful Simple Sunday!

Light Up the Night

Saturday, November 17, 2012

We braved the cold this evening for Light up the Night with our church.

Hotdogs, Castle Jump, Games, Bonfire, Balloon launch, and movie!

All with sweet friends... so excited about launching balloons with glow sticks inside sending God's Word out into the world.

"In the same way, let your light shine before men,

that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."

Matthew 5:16

EK: That was the 'funnest' party!

PS We wimped out on the movie... worried I/the kids might have croup in the morning. :)

Sadie's Gotcha~

Friday, November 16, 2012

Fisher is 13 years old and has arthritis/hip problems... gets up just like an old man.
Each day it's hard to watch him uncomfortable and stiff.
You know other things we worry about and when.
ALL the kids LOVE him and we couldn't imagine life without him.

Amelia has enjoyed some community service this semester @ PAWS for Phi Mu and fell in love with a dog named Stud continuing to go even when her service was done. She began hinting to us she wanted to bring him home and Scott finally gave in. IF he was still there today, she could adopt him.
Wednesday when she went, Stud was gone to another family. Sad for us but happy for him. I guess this got Scott thinking.

Thus Sadie...
loved by a family: single mom with a 19 year old away at college and just couldn't take care of her. Scott met them today and they cried saying goodbye.
Amelia and EK LOVE her beyond words, Rosie likes her, SJ and WP will get there.
I can't even put into words all the reactions the kids had when Scott drove up today and Sadie jumped out. JOY!!!

I guess EK summed it up pretty well when putting her to bed...
This was the BEST day of my life. :)
Happy Gotcha Sadie girl... welcome to your forever!!!
Just know you and Fisher will become the best of friends!
