Summer Projects~

Thursday, May 31, 2012

The littles and I are doing at least one project each day through the summer
to stay on track with school but maybe not so formally.
Yesterday we were due so new play dough so we all made a batch~

It's amazing how FUN play dough becomes when it smells like peppermint
and has A LOT of glitter in it!!!

Teacher Tom’s Mom's Very Special Playdough Recipe

This is the recipe for one small batch. We quadruple it for classroom use.
1-cup flour
1/2-cup salt
2-teaspoons cream of tarter
1-cup water
1-Tablespoon cooking oil
food coloring (optional)
scent (optional, but recommended)

Put everything in a pot and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon. You're looking for the dough to start separating from the sides of the pan (the time this takes depends on how big your batch is). I’ve found that the smoothest results come from stopping when it still seems like it’ll be a little too sticky. Remove and let cool for a bit on wax paper. Add color and knead to distribute color. I always add a scent (e.g., mint, wintergreen, clove, strawberry, etc.) to keep it smelling fresh.

Today I got out some floor puzzle squares for them to play with.
SJ asked if we could play hopscotch so I flipped them all, numbered, and they were off~
We also played a game I have had for a long time... Pick and Draw.
I had them pick their 5 cards and add details to a paper plate,
then we added a wooden stick,
and enjoyed a puppet show~
Having a very fun time so far!!!

Wonderful Wednesday~

Memorial Day Weekend~

Monday, May 28, 2012

Our family enjoyed the freedom to celebrate today because many women and men
of yesterday and today gave their lives in service to our country...
Scott's day~ Army
My Daddy~ Navy
Josh's Daddy~ Marines
Tony~ Air Force.
Thank you to every military person for our freedom!

Our weekend was so wonderful because all our children were home with  us~
Spending the majority of our time in the pool~
soaking up sun and enjoying every minute together~
SO very thankful for family and freedom!!!

It's Official~

Friday, May 25, 2012

School is out for the summer.
Rosie and EK made it off for their last day.
I think R had a little too much fun on her last day...
EK said her most fun activity was playing with shaving cream.
Not gonna miss carpool one bit and just look at that big smile when EK loaded back in this afternoon...
we were stopping by Memommy's. :)
What was going on while R&EK were spending their last day at school?
WP was learning to swim with Mimi~

and SJ was writing in her journal~
(Mimi taught me how to swim under water. I ate a Popsicle.)
Our girls couldn't have had a better school year.
They were both blessed by excellent teachers that helped them succeed even with a month off for our trip to China.
Thank you Mrs. Gurley, Ms. Strange, and High School teachers!
Hope you ALL have a very blessed summer!!

Jason and Amy along with two other couples are planting Impact Church here in Hartwell.
We have loved getting involved with the setup of everything and tonight we worked on KidCity!
It is going to be amazing~ you WILL want your kids there!!!

Please Help~

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

My friend Brandi asked me to share a very special request.
PLEASE see below and pray for what God may be asking you to do~
 Ephesians 3:20
Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
according to His power that is at work within us.

Many Colors~

What do my littles want to do Sunday morning when two wake up sick and we can't go to church?
Umm hmm... school~ {Sunday school}.
SO I read our Bible story which happened to be Joseph and the Coat of Many Colors.
I had a thought to use Color as our theme for the morning and pulled out finger paint letting them go at it~
We mixed primary colors to make secondary ones and after drying~
Created Many Color Butterflies.
They now fly in our school room to remind us of God's love for us...
Genesis 37:3
Now Israel loved Joseph more than any of his other sons,
because he had been born to him in his old age; and he made an ornate robe for him.

Let's get it done!!

Changin' It Up~

Thursday, May 17, 2012

I am forever thinking of new uses for old things and wanting them organized right away...
{Right Scott?}
I noticed our train set had not been getting much play action while taking up prime space!
IDEA~ switch this table from trains to playdough/pasta table.
Scott found a perfect piece of paneling and I hot glued moving tabs to the bottom for good rolling, moved the train onto it, and rolled it 'under' the table.

Huge things happened...
Playdough became a VERY fun place especially when I gave them a little something different each day {cut up straws}~
WP loved making a bd cake and singing to SJ. :)
Pasta continues to be a VERY fun past time
and wouldn't you know...
Our train set is WAY more fun now that can be pulled out and sat around to play. SO fun!

Seventh Heaven~

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Have you been able to read between the lines, notice little hints, catch a jist of what's up with our family?
It's been very hard to keep it in...
such a journey of prayer, soul searching, should we? shouldn't we? was that a closed door? did God send us on this journey just for Grayson? or was He bringing another little one home?

You remember me meeting Grayson's precious mom back in March and our time at the retreat.
I really went there to hear a clear word from God telling us what He wanted us to do?
I didn't come home knowing where He was leading but I knew I needed to stay close,
nurture my family, and just let Him lead.
Scott and I had SO many conversations, moments of tears, and complete dependence on God's will.
We kept asking Him what He wanted us to do... stop or go?

It really would be the easier choice to stay home and love the ones we have BUT
we couldn't let go of the thought we might leave our child waiting in China;
after all, God put Grayson in my heart, gave him to another, so WHAT?

In the last weeks as we have continued the paper chase,
God has really made the words of Sidewalk Prophets "I Wanna Live Like That" come alive~

What will people say of me
When I'm only just a memory
When I'm home where my soul belongs

Was I love
When no one else would show up
Was I Jesus to the least of those
Was my worship more than just a song

I want to live like that
And give it all I have
So that everything I say and do
Points to You

If love is who I am
Then this is where I'll stand
Recklessly abandoned
Never holding back

I want to live like that
I want to live like that

SO that's what we are doing~
We are going back for the child God has chosen for our family.
As a matter of fact, our dossier went to China Monday...
we are
DTC!!!
(Dossier to China)
Meaning our paper work is there and being prepared to Log In.
Once we have LID (Log In Date) we will be matched and see who God had in mind all along.
We just had to have faith that He knew the way and all we had to do was follow.

Once again, we have no idea how it will come to fruition financially;
after all, this will be our third adoption in three years, fourth in 6 years.
What we DO know...
He has provided everything we have needed in the past and know without a shadow of a doubt,
HE will do it AGAIN!

Sew Shay is up and running, plan to open auction again soon,
and Scott is busily pursuing a real estate adventure he has always dreamed of... to help us get to China and when back home, will help other families bring their precious ones home too!
(Link coming soon to his website)

SO Seventh Heaven is on the way!
Count them...
Savannah, Amelia, Rosemary, EllaKate, ShayleeJoy, Will Perry, and ???
Girl or Boy? Age 2-6? God Knows!!!
Are you at all surprised?
Thank you for your prayers on this new journey!!!

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD,
"plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Monday Madness~

End of the year projects are in full force~
A little bit of work and a WHOLE lot of fun!
LOVE these girls!!!

Mother's Day~

Sunday, May 13, 2012

Today is one of those days when counting blessings is an all day thing.
I have SO much to be thankful for... I awoke to a sweet post on Savannah's blog (cried)~
Missed having my sweet girl home~ she made me a mom and taught me all about unconditional love!

I spent a lot of time today thinking about and loving my mama.
I couldn't be more blessed to have her in my life...
loving me, loving Scott, loving my sweet babies (big and little), and as Scott said today...
holding our family together~
She is all I ever want to be as a mom!!!

After church we had Mama and Daddy~
PaPa, Jason, Amy, Max, and Addie over for lunch and playing~
My day was SO sweet being loved on by my beautiful children~
and the whole weekend with roses, cards, lots of yummy food, and sweet random acts of kindness~
I can't imagine life without a single blessing I counted today.
Having WP home this year was especially sweet~ he loves his mama and daddy!
Thank you mama for being the most amazing mom in the whole world,
thank you Scott for giving me the privilege of being a mom (6 times...),
and thank you to all my beautiful children~ Savannah, Josh, Amelia, Rosemary, EllaKate, ShayleeJoy, Will Perry...
I LOVE you all SO very much!!!

Psalm 127:3
Children are a gift from the Lord;  they are a reward from Him.

Tea Party~

Saturday, May 12, 2012

EK's BFF and little sister had a tea party today~
All the girls dressed in a favorite dress and brought their favorite stuffed friend~
They had their hand traced for a sweet gift, ate delicious snacks, and played in the playhouse~
It was a sweet day for the little girls AND the moms.
Always wonderful to get together with friends!

Fun Friday~ Pasta Play

Friday, May 11, 2012

Yesterday afternoon while WP was still napping, the little girls and I had a 'Pasta' party!
We took 6 different kinds of pasta, poured a little in 6 different ziplocs, squirted alcohol and food coloring, shook the bags, and poured out to dry.
Then the FUN began... all afternoon into the night and all day today!
Do these smiles tell the whole story?
There are a million things we will do with this tub of magic but for now, we will just play and pretend!!!

Field Day~

Thursday, May 10, 2012

EK was super excited today for Muffins for Mom~
 AND... Field Day.
I remember the day last year when I took her for registration, the kids were having field day
and I really think that is what sold her about going to school.
She has been waiting ALL year for today and it finally came even though when we asked her about it...
she really didn't have a clue what was going to happen. :)

When we arrived on the field to watch, she was busy picking flowers and sharing them with everyone~
One of her favorite stations was Tug-of-War because her daddy was in charge.
On the first pull, her class didn't do so well BUT when the teachers and parents jumped in... they WoN~
YAY Team Gurley/Strange!!!
Thank goodness for Mrs. Gurley... she really helped EK enjoy the day by racing against her~
AND I have I mentioned how WONDERFUL it is to have Amelia home from college???
SO wonderful and she loved being there to watch EK on her first field day!
It was a really great day!!!
