9/11~ Coming Home

9/11 Anniversary is such a solemn day of remembrance
for our amazing United States of America.
Couldn't be more thankful and SO proud
to be an American!
A day in our lives when we all remember exactly
where we were when the terror began.

I was a first grade teacher beginning a normal Tuesday
with my sweet students.
A wife and mom to 3 beautiful daughters
with 2 babies to come that would go straight to heaven
then to China for 3 precious children.
Where else but in America???

Nine years later (one year ago today)
we began our journey home with SJ~

I remember saying to Scott how scary it was to be
traveling on September 11th and he reassured me
it would be one of the safest days as security would be high.
SO after about 36 hours of travel,
we made it home to the arms of our family and friends~

Finally after 19 days,
our family was reunited and sisters were back together!!!~
It still takes my breath away to think we are on our way back
in just a few weeks for Will.

So on this day of Remembrance,
we remember all the ones that lost life,
the ones that survived,
and the families left behind.
Never forgotten, Forever grateful!!!

Thankful for our freedom preserved
by the many that serve our country~
we thank them all.

Psalm 46:10
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

  1. Sharon, That was beautifully written. Happy one year with SJ. Praying for you as you get ready to travel again to bring that beautiful baby boy home!

  2. What a sweet post! We flew to San Diego the end of September, 2001 and I was a complete wreck! We felt the same way about security.

Looking forward to following your journey again! Will is going to be the perfect addition to your family! I can't wait to see him in your arms!

  3. What a beautiful story. So glad you listened to your heart to bring more children into your heart and family.

  4. God certainly has done amazing things in your life. So excited that you are answering his calling and going back once again. We will be praying you through

  5. happy One Year Home!! I am so glad that the Lord blesses us with good memories that can overshadow the sad ones (He gives and takes away indeed.) Such a somber day for our nation and a beautiful day for your family.

  6. 9/11 has that same feeling to us! It's the day I met and held Quinn for the first time. She became a US citizen on that day! Yet, at the same time, our hearts will always share that day with those that were lost to senseless tragedy. I have to say, my sister was born on Pearl Habor Day, so not too far off from this!
