Impromptu Play Date

Thursday, April 29, 2010

Sickness has made it's way through our family this week. Scott was not well Monday, Jason on Wednesday, Momma this morning, and now Amy. We brought Max over so Amy could rest and EK and Max could play. I was able to watch them from my favorite new spot.

EK and Max wanted to be outside the whole time.

Just a Day in our Life...

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

Today was a very busy day in our life... I had a dr. appt so took the opportunity to run a few errands since Savannah is home and can keep EK. I found this beautiful plush blanket on clearance at Walmart for EK... she was thrilled- she LOVES blankets! (and stuffed animals!)

Savannah moves back to college town on Saturday into her first apartment with Baileigh. We have been gathering furniture. Josh gave her a green iron bed so we spray painted it today and now oh so cute!!! More pics to come.

We had our pool opened on Monday and it is already clear and ready for swimmers... BUT it is 66 degrees... brrrr. Did that stop EK? NO! She got right in since I had to be out there cleaning up. I didn't let her put her head under though. :)

No pics of Amelia but she is studying hard for a major chemistry test tomorrow!!! Scott is sick with some kind of virus and can't stay home because it is the end of their quarter. :(

Rosemary is trying out for high school cheerleading this week and a group of girls have gone home with each other each day to practice after practice. Today was our day, so they came over, ate spaghetti, and practiced. They all look great so far!!!

Sunday Snapshot: Outside

Sunday, April 25, 2010

Today was a great day to be outside! I enjoyed sitting out in the swing watching the kids.

Rosie playing a little basketball.

Rosie and EK hitting a few golf balls.

Savannah and Josh just hanging out.

EK and her precious bug jar, once full of caterpillars, now full of cocoons. :)

Amelia played in the first round of state playoffs against Johns Creek on Wednesday. It would prove to be their last match of the year but you can't tell from their beautiful smiles, can you? This group of girls had the best sportsmanship and most positive attitude all season. They were quick to build each other up with just the right encouragement. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention their amazing Coach Burch who in Amelia's words is "The best coach in the world!".

Update on little Andrew:
read Never Too Many

Adoption News:
Scott, Savannah, Amelia, and I went for our fingerprint appointments today @ USCIS. We were in and out in about 30 minutes with only one little glitch but it turned out to be nothing. PTL! We are one step closer to SJ!!! We will receive our I797 that proves we have no criminal record and continue waiting on our LOA: Letter of Acceptance... letter from China saying they accept us to adopt SJ. We are on day 8 of our maybe 45-60 day wait. If we get it sooner, we will be extremely excited!!!

Please Pray!

Thursday, April 22, 2010

I have two new friends I have made since we accepted SJ's referral. They both have specific prayer requests today and I ask you say a prayer for each!

Little Andrew was just taken back for his heart surgery just this morning.

Little John Asher is doing well after open heart. They are praying he will be able to go home sometime next week. Our family will one day find ourselves in these same situations and will need your prayers as well. If you care to read, John Asher had the same defect as SJ has and she will be at the same hospital with the same doctors. I am so thankful to have met this family and know God will teach me lots through their journey.

Shaving Cream Fun!

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

EK went a little wild with the glue one day so there was a lot of dried glue on her table not to mention all the marker, crayon, and pencil marks on it. Thinking back on my K teaching days, I remembered we sometimes had shaving cream fun days with cleaning being the ulterior motive... kids having no idea because all they saw was the potential for a wild mess. :)

I sprayed some of Scott's new shaving cream and began rubbing it onto the table. It took EK a minute to decide she wanted to touch it... (sensory) but with just a little coaxing, she was having a ball.

We worked on letter formation- I wrote the uppercase and she wrote the lowercase. We sounded out words and practiced writing the numbers. While I used a scrapper to get the glue off, EK enjoyed drawing some of her favorite animals.

After what was a VERY fun activity, our table was clean as a whistle and ready for more glue, markers, crayons, and pencils... fine with me! :)

Sunday Snapshot: In Full Bloom

Monday, April 19, 2010

This weekend we were out in a yard a lot! Scott trimmed limbs and put out pine straw. EK found tons of caterpillars and is now waiting for them to spin their cocoons. The girls enjoyed tennis and friends. I just enjoyed it all! We have so many azaleas blooming in our yard so we took time Sunday to get a few pics to remember the beauty of spring. Breath taking!!!

Region Tennis Tournament: Amelia

Saturday, April 17, 2010

Two days this week, we traveled with Amelia's tennis team for regional tournament games. Wednesday we were at Morgan County and Thursday at Oconee. The heat was major but the team did very well- winning on Wed and then again Thurs morning, losing only to Oconee that afternoon. They came in second in the region and are on to the state playoffs. We will host the third place team at home this week and see where it takes us. Hoping for a great end of the season!!! :) I was able to take lots of pics of course!

New LID!!!

Friday, April 16, 2010

As most of you know we have been logged in for China since June 2007 waiting and waiting and waiting. In January we decided to switch to special needs and were matched with our precious ShayleeJoy! Since then we have been waiting for our dossier to be transferred and a new LID issued.

Each morning when I pick up my phone, I automatically look through the emails to see who they are from and if there is anything about our adoption. Today for some crazy reason, I clicked on the first one in the list and began going through them one by one. I had made it through about 8 or so when the ONE pops up. I almost fainted (exaggeration) but I was SO excited!!! It said...

Your new LID is April 15th, 2010.

There it was... one little sentence... and the only one I needed to read!!! We are logged in again!!! Now what? We wait again. This wait should be around 60 days for our LOA (Letter of Acceptance)- the kind of golden ticket that says China has accepted us to adopt SJ!!! We will sign and return ASAP then begin the next wait for TA (travel approval).

In case you need to see a pic of our precious baby...
Can barely wait...

And... Big Praise... my bible study group has decided to hold a yard sale with all proceeds going to our adoption so I have been going through closets and drawers, etc. As I was looking through pockets in bags, I found something I had been looking for for a long time...

A necklace with a Chinese love charm given to me by my sweet friend Joan not long after our June 06 LID. Was it by chance that I would find it this week? Don't know for sure but I choose to think I found right at the perfect time... a little sign of God's love for me, for China, for SJ, and for His perfect will being done in our lives. I praise Him with all that I am and ever hope to be!
PS. I have been wearing it ever since. :)

A Busy Girl!

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

EK has been a busy girl this morning! This is where she has been for over an hour- right in the middle of drawing books and paper. She LOVES drawing and writing.

Today she walked into the family room holding a drawing she had made. She asked me what her favorite bird at the zoo was and I guessed the toucan. She thought I had peeked and actually I did see a colorful beak through the paper. Why is this so special?

This is the first drawing she has ever made just for me. She drew it and wrote MOM on it. It is getting framed and going on my desk!!! :)

One step closer...

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

In the process of our L.O.N.G. wait for ShayleeJoy, we let our fingerprints expire and had to renew them. In order for that to happen we had to update our homestudy and then mail it along with our application. Yesterday we received our fingerprint appointment letters- 4 of them. All adults in our household must be fingerprinted... that makes me smile... we have two daughters considered adults and I guess they are (20 and 18). We are asked to come April 23 @ noon. This makes us one step closer to our precious little girl!!!
