Need a Little Help from my Friends!

Joyful Button

There are times in our lives when we need to ask for help. It is not always the easiest thing to do. As simple as it sounds, we all try to just do things ourselves. You may have heard growing up, "If you want something done right, just do it yourself." And I'll be the first to say that is very true sometimes but today is not one of those days for me. Our family needs help!!!

You all know by now we have sweet ShayleeJoy coming to our family in God's timing. In the meantime, we have many fees and deadlines to meet. We are confident that God will provide exactly what we need exactly when we need it and we are praying you will help us on this journey.

There's a story in the Bible of a little boy with a lunch of 2 fish and 5 loaves that his mom had packed that day. Little did he know his little lunch would become MUCH when Jesus blessed it. (Matt 14:19) Your donation will be the same... no matter what or how much, God will bless the gift and the giver and at the end of the journey, we will all be blessed with a precious little gift named ShayleeJoy JingJing Ankerich. Please pray how God would use you in this

We have designed A JOYful Heart auction blog with lots of ways to help!!! Choosing one or more will help beyond measure!!!

~ Become a follower of the auction blog so that you will know when new items are added
~ Post about ShayleeJoy and our fundraiser on your blog or through email to your family and friends and ask them to follow the blog as well
~ Grab our button and add to your blog sidebar (email me if you need help)
~ Make a bid on an item you are interested in

We just started a raffle for a Baby Be Blessed doll and will be adding new raffles all along.

Any choice you make will be helping a precious little one become a part of her forever family and become one of the greatest blessings in our lives.

EK is a PC!

Thursday, February 25, 2010

You know the commercial with the little girl that makes cool stuff on her parents' PC?... EK has become a PC too.

We started a new behavior chart last week and it is working like a charm. She has a chart with rules, privileges, and consequences. One of the privileges she earns is computer time.

I only had to show her once how to use the finger pad, arrows, and keys and she had it down pat. I am amazed how fast she catches on to something. Of course she can work my IPhone as well as I can. :)

We have only ventured onto PBSkids so far but she loves it and really doesn't know how BIG cyberworld is... going to let it stay that way. Here she is concentrating like crazy on her 'work'.

My Outside Girl!

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

EK would rather be outside than any other place. And the icing on the cake is when she's out with her daddy. Over the last 6 months, I have watched my little girl become closer and closer to her daddy. He's the first person she asks about each morning when I get her from bed- he's already gone when she gets up. If he's home, she wants to be where he is, doing what he is doing. I think God is preparing her for a sweet little sister to make her way into our family and take some of the attention. I am so thankful she has such a sweet daddy to love... and believe me he ADORES her too!

ShayleeJoy Jingjing Ankerich

Today is a JOYful day!!! We received PA (pre-approval) for our precious daughter in Putian City, Fujian, China. Her name is Lin Jingjing and she is 30 months old. Her name means Brilliant and All Glittering - what a beautiful visual picture!

On Tuesday night, Feb 9 Scott and I were watching tv when we received an email with the file attached. We both took a deep breath and opened it... to say the rest was history is exactly what I have to say... we both knew at first sight she was our daughter but we didn't tell each other at the time. We had until Thurs @ 4pm PST to accept or decline.

Our next step was to send the file to doctors who could evaluate and give us information concerning her needs. I was up until 2 or 3 in the morning sending her file and joining every yahoo group I could find. The doctors were all unanimous of the diagnosis and treatment with our precious pediatrician helping us make the final decision. She was so supportive and made us feel at peace about this precious little one.

On Wednesday night, we danced around and around all the info we had complied in such a short time. When it finally came down to it, we asked for a girl- God gave us a girl, we asked for the special need heart- God gave it to us, and we asked for 1-4 year old and God split it right down the middle- 2 and half year old. What more did He have to do to show us we were looking at our precious ShayleeJoy??? I asked Scott what he thought and he said, "She had me the moment I saw her face. " And I said, "Me too!!!"

On Thursday we accepted her referral and sent LOI (letter of intent). We were so amazed to wake up this morning with word that we had received PA (11 days)!!! We are so excited and completely in love with our precious little girl. We are finishing up our dossier and hope to get logged back in as quickly as possible. Then from our new LID (log in date), we will wait 5-6 months before we travel.

I also want to unveil my Adoption Auction Blog created to raise funds to bring sweet ShayleeJoy home. It is called A JOYful Heart and comes from a scripture God gave me the morning I began working on it. Proverbs 17:22 says, "A joyful heart is good medicine." This verse spoke volumes to me. I felt like God told me that little Joy's heart was created by Him and He would heal it with His Good Medicine!!! So I ask from the bottom of my heart, please take a leap over to A JOYful Heart and decide if you could donate an item or bid on an item listed. If you have your own blog, please consider putting my button on your blog as well. Any help you can give will bring us closer to our precious little ShayleeJoy JingJing Ankerich. I pray God's richest blessings on you and your family!!!

Nothing Better...

Friday, February 19, 2010

Nothing is better for EK than being outside with Fisher- she could stay out there all day with him. She thinks she's big walking him around with the leash.

I have to say, I'm loving her messy hair these days!!! She plays so hard! :)

This One's for the Birds...

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

I could have worried that EK has messy play hair or that my sliding glass door is dirty but then I would have missed this precious moment. I finally remembered to pick up birdseed yesterday and today the birds are just flocking to the feeder. Let me tell you, EK is thrilled. She has stood at the window quiet as can be watching the beauty of God's little creatures so many times... completely precious!!! I am thankful she loves nature so much!!!

Happy Valentine's Day...

Sunday, February 14, 2010

to Savannah and her favorite Valentine- Josh!

Chinese New Year Party

Lucy invited several families to meet together @ Lin's Bistro in Atlanta (Lin being a VIPart of our story- later) to celebrate CNY. It was such a wonderful time for EK to see all her precious Chinese friends and for me and Scott to catch up with our friends. They are all the kind of friends that you don't see for a long time and when you do, it's just like we were together just the other day. The only sad part was Mill getting a migraine on the way in and was sick the whole time. Hoping she feels better by morning!!! They have the week off for winter break so she at least gets to sleep in. Praying your year of the tiger is healthy and prosperous!!!

And this is my friend Donna , who even brought gifts for me and SJ!!!

Sunday Snapshot: Valentine's Day

What is sweeter than love? Nothing... and today is just the day to show it. EK worked so hard to make Valentines for her church friends and Chinese friends we are going to visit for CNY. We were also blessed to have the two oldest Valentine kids, Josh and Savannah, home for the weekend!!! I am completely surrounded by the sweetest love in the world including that of my best friend and soul mate forever!!!

The Journey of Faith

To say the past three weeks have been a roller coaster is pretty much an understatement. Adoption is such a step of faith in many ways and yet such a simple choice of love. It just comes down to every human being in this world needing and deserving love. 31 months ago, we knew without a shadow of a doubt that we were being called back to China for another daughter. We did all the paper chasing and logged in to wait what we thought might be two years... perfect timing we thought in our minds. God had such a different plan.

On January 25, we officially switched to special needs and began a different journey. Instead of waiting for ShayleeJoy to find us, we would be searching for her through lists and more lists. God was so good when He sent me a very informative friend who knew the ends and outs of every list available. She educated me on how to read lists, who to talk to, how to read the medicals that came with files, and the paperwork involved. She took me from a meek looker to a brave pursuer.

In the past weeks I have looked at so many faces and wondered if I would know her if I saw her. It is so easy to not really believe it can happen. My fellow adoptive friends kept reassuring me I would know. I would know my sweet ShayleeJoy when I saw her. There is so much more to this story I have yet to tell but for now just know God is so Faithful on the journey of Faith... and He has answered the prayers of our family!!!

Snow, Snow, Snow!

We were so blessed to have snow this weekend. What do kids that live on the lake do when it snows? Get their lake toys out! All the kids on our street had a ball riding behind a golf cart on a tube that is really meant to be pulled behind a boat. They also launched snowballs with a water balloon launcher and build an 8 foot tall snowman. It was the best of winter days!!!

Scott, EK, and I set out to take some pics and captured some breathtaking shots!
