The Best Thanksgiving!

Sunday, November 29, 2009

We had one of the best Thanksgivings ever. Scott and the girls were all home. We did some shopping, lots of cooking and eating, movies (theater & rentals), reading, football, and just hanging out by the fire. On Wednesday, we met Scott in Atlanta for dinner and a visit with Santa. EK was still a little Santa shy but the girls did a great job encouraging her to share the list. So excited about the picture... don't you know???

Thanksgiving was a day spent eating and hanging out with family.

So much to be thankful for... when I stop to think about them all it just boils down to one thing... LOVE! Christ loves me and it is through Him I am surrounded by the love of family and friends. I am so thankful for each of you!!!

November is National Adoption Month

Monday, November 23, 2009

It has been on my heart to blog about National Adoption Month but have just been a procrastinator. Today I was reading other adoptive blogs and found this YouTube video that just said all that needs to be said. It is also very timely that our agency CCAI just began offering adoptions from Ethiopia!!! Is God whispering to your heart???

God lead us to adoption almost 5 years ago and it has been a huge blessing to our family. EK is the sweetest little girl full of life and joy that lights up our home each day. We love her sooooo very much. We have been waiting 29 months for our sweet ShayleeJoy and I just about burst when I think of the day I will finally hold her forever!!! I am praying God will lead you or someone you love to the blessing of adoption.

I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

Thanksgiving with my Family

My sister Marcia and family drove in on Saturday to be home for a holiday weekend. Jason and Amy are flying to Michigan for Thanksgiving on Wednesday so it was the perfect weekend for us to all celebrate our Thanksgiving together. My grandfather was able to be there as well. We were only missing sweet Savannah. The weather was very yucky so encouraged her to stay put because we didn't want her driving alone.

After a great time at church, we all enjoyed a delicious meal of turkey, DRESSING!!!, and all the fixings- topped off with strawberry cake and German chocolate pie!!!

It was so wonderful to be together- lots of smiles!!!

A&R were away for the weekend on a retreat with their youth group- thus the sleepy faces. They actually came home after lunch, fell asleep about 2:30 and slept until 8 this morning. Crazy!

Looking forward to Christmas Eve when we will all be together once again!!!

Olivia is 4!

EK and I traveled to Greenville on Saturday to celebrate Olivia's 4th birthday. She had a Hello Kitty party complete with art, games, yummy cake, and sweet friendship. Lynn and I are so thankful our little girls have become such precious friends brought together with a red thread and the amazing will of God. We are truly thankful for the priviledge of being their moms and sharing the journey of our lives with these special blessings. We had a wonderful time and thanks for inviting us!!!

We were able to meet Lynn & O again for a quick Target and Chili's visit a couple of weeks ago. The girls are just the sweetest of friends and instantly comfortable with each other. We always have such a fun time hanging out. We are excited to be going to O's 4th birthday party tomorrow!

Amelia's Photography Field Trip

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

Amelia went with her Art Club on a Photography Field trip around town on Saturday. She did a great job! The images will be used in an assisted living residence in town to help residents remember stories of their past. I touched up a few in Lightroom for her...

Planting Day

Saturday we planted pansies in our flower beds and pots. Can I just say EK LOVED digging in the dirt with her shovel!!!

A Little Organization...

Thursday, November 5, 2009

EK and I had the best time meeting Lynn & Olivia in Anderson today. Lynn was showing me her newly organized purse with a really cool insert inside. I tried to find one like hers but it was too big for my purse. I had an errand to run in Hobby Lobby and saw a little scrapbooking organizer. I thought it just might be the perfect little bag to use as an insert for my purse and for $6.99, it was worth a try. I turned it wrong side out so the pockets would be on the inside and it held everything in my purse perfectly. This is very exciting for me because my purse is a deep black hole that my girls call the Mary Poppins bag. In the past I just stuck my hand in and felt around until I found what I was looking for... now I look inside and take out just what I need. I am so excited to be all organized now!!! Thanks Lynn for the little push to do something I have needed to do for a long time!!!

Sewing Again

Sunday, November 1, 2009

Over the summer, I took some time off from making clothes for EK although I continued to buy some cute fabric. I decided to get back to it this past week since the seasons are changing so fast and everything from last year is too short. I cut out several outfits and was able to get this one sewn so EK could wear it to church today. It's a little on the big side but I wanted to give her some growing room. She loved it and wanted to know if I was making her another outfit today- no but I will tomorrow! :)

If you are looking for cute outfits for your sweet one, head over to my friend, Lynn's website and shop her adorable creations. She is my inspiration!!!

Halloween Fun!

EK has been looking forward to Halloween for over a month. As a matter of fact I bought her the cutest Little Mermaid costume back at the beginning of September because she was SURE that was who she wanted to be. Well why in the world did I fall for that??? :)

Over the weeks, she became completely in love with Belle and all she could talk about was getting a beautiful yellow dress to wear for Halloween. I kept reminding her she was going to be Ariel but she was determined to be Belle. Can you believe I took her back to the Disney store to look at the Belle dresses? The dress at the front of the store almost made me pass out... $89.00... I knew we had to get out of there but followed EK around the store until we made it all the way to the back. There on a clearance rack was the 'Last' year Belle dress... $14.99... one dress and EK's size. I snatched it right up and we headed to check out. Done. She would be Belle and oh so happy!

We were so excited to take her trick-or-treating without dodging the rain. We started at Memommy and Pop's house with Max

and then she walked Aunt Susan and Uncle Tony's whole neighborhood with complete joy!!! Gigi went with us, Mill went to the movies with all her friends, and Nan was in Atlanta... We enjoyed a great party at Jason and Amy's house for our Halloween finale. It was a great holiday!!!
