Cross Walk

Saturday, October 31, 2009

Our church hosted a wonderful Fall Festival Wednesday and Thursday called Cross Walk. People in our church dressed up and depicted various scenes from Jesus' life along a lighted trail through the woods. It was very well received by our community and we are hopeful it encouraged someone to come to know Jesus as their personal savior! Scott, A, & R all helped in the production.

Scott was Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, the girls were in the crowd when Jesus was on trial, and Jason was Jesus at the Last Supper. Amy and I greeted people at the end of the trail and thanked them for coming with a goody bag. Daddy and Max just enjoyed all the people.

Amy and I started a very part time tutoring position on Mondays and Wednesdays so we are switching out babysitting. I keep Max on Mondays for a couple of hours and she keeps EK on Wednesdays. Max & EK play so well together and have become the best of friends!

Too Sweet!

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

EK and I were sitting by the fire just now and this was our convo.

EK: I just had a big beat on my heart.
Me: You did?
EK: It was God.
Me: It was?
EK: Yes he was knocking in my heart.
Me: What did He say?
EK: I love you. That's it.
Me: That was so sweet!
EK: Yes, I love God too.

Pumpkin Patch Day!

Sunday, October 25, 2009

We took the girls along with my mom, Jason, Amy, and Max to a little pumpkin patch not far from home. EK and Max loved looking for the perfect pumpkin and taking a wagon ride. I loved all the pics I was able to take and as you can see had a hard time weeding them out. When we got home, EK decorated her with a Princess kit and we carved the big one. The best part was the delicious pumpkin seeds we baked- YUM!!! It was a wonderful day- the only thing that would have made it better... Savannah and Josh!!!

Fall on the Lake

Scott came in this morning after going to the barn and took the camera down to the lake. He said it was beautiful and from these pics... it was breathtaking! The steam coming off the lake was very spiritual... God's amazing creation!!!

Powderpuff Game

Saturday, October 24, 2009

Amelia and her junior friends played the seniors in a Powderpuff game tonight. Can I just say it was freezing out there?!!! It was so fun to watch them play their hearts out. The juniors persevered and won the game!!! We were so thankful to get home, eat tomato bisque, and build a fire!!!

My Nature Girl

EK is one outside loving girl. Saturdays are her favorite day because her daddy is usually home and they stay outside together almost all day. Scott enjoys working in the yard and EK is right there with him. I looked out today and saw her with all her sand buckets filling them with leaves. Forget seashells or Easter eggs- EK is all about leaves, sticks, rocks, flowers, acorns, worms... Today it was leaves and she had the time of her life.

Daddy's 73rd Birthday

Monday, October 19, 2009

We celebrated my daddy's birthday Sunday with the whole family. Momma and Marcia cooked a delicious lunch for us after we heard the most wonderful sermon by my little brother Jason at our church. Scott picked up my grandfather and he was able to be there as well. It truly was a great family day! So thankful to have my precious daddy in my life!!!

HCHS Homecoming

Saturday, October 17, 2009

HC played a great game last night and won 21-14. It was cold and breezy but we made it through halftime to see Miss Bulldog and Miss Homecoming crowned. Amelia and her friends asked me to make them t-shirts to wear to school for Spirit Day and then to the ballgame. They looked so cute! It was so fun going to the game with Amy/Max and Marcia/B&S. We had big plans today with Josh and Savannah but the rain kept us home. We are excited for them to come home today!!!

Pumpkin Day

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

Today I pulled out a few pumpkin activities for EK to work on. The first was just a simple dot to dot I printed from a website online- EK connected the numbers, then dot painted the pumpkin- simple but fun. Next, she cut out a pumpkin shape I had traced on a folded piece of construction paper. We stapled the sides and she stuffed with the extra cut off. I taught her to cut a spiral and she drew the lines. Next was a pumpkin puzzle. Using the same pumplin pattern, she cut out a single pumpkin and then I drew lines on it for her to cut into sections. I drew only 4 for her- in K I would have drawn more. She then pieced it back together and glued down- adding triangles for face. She cut out her own stem.

EK really got a cutting workout today! :)

And for a little Handwriting practice... decide what you want to work on- today I wanted EK to work on her first and last name plus the letter H. I wrote the letters on a piece of copy paper with a line underneath. I put a large dot on the letters so she would know where to begin writing. I then stapled another blank sheet on top. She traced first and then wrote on her own on the line. She did a great job!

The last pic shows how proud she was of herself!

Disney Day

It is Spirit Week at A's HS building up to Homecoming this weekend. Each day they have a different theme. Today was Disney Day and everyone at school calls A&S twins so they decided to dress as Disney twins. Between us moms and the girls, we sent them to school hilariously dressed as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. Priceless!!!

More School Work

Monday, October 12, 2009

Happy Columbus Day!!! and BOO!!! HISS!!!

School Work

EK could just not get enough school today. We started with the sticker counting then H handwriting, drawing and sounding out, 2 cutting activities, reading a ton of Halloween books, and then she wanted to do art... I pulled out my October box from school and chose these two things for her to do. She can't wait for her daddy to get home so she can take him on a tour!!! :)

Counting Activity

I was in Target and picked up a little pack of very cute Halloween stickers. I created a few different counting sheets for EK beginning with a couple of numbers repeated over and over and then moved slowly to a sheet with 1-10. The objective is to recognize the number and count out that number of stickers to put in each section. Very good for fine motor development too! EK really enjoyed it and hung it immediately in our school room. :)

LK's BD Party

Saturday, October 10, 2009

EK went to her friend, LK's bd party today. It was the sweetest thing to watch all the kids enjoying being together. EK had a ball with her friends and I had a ball with mine!!! Fun time.
(No kidding... 5 min before it was time to leave for the party, I thought EK sure was quiet in her room. When the girls and I peeked into her room, we found her sound asleep on her floor :).

BD Party

G Week

EK celebrated G week on Friday so we baked delicious gingerbread cookies for her celebration.

EK & R

EK & R had such a fun playday Thursday- I'm pretty sure they pulled out every single toy but I didn't say a word... they were playing hard!!! :)

Fall Break

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

Our girls have been in school since Aug 3 so our county had Fall Break last week. Some days were spent sleeping late and resting much of the day and others were spent wide open. Scott took off Wed-Fri so that was so great! Wed we took the girls to Anderson for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and dinner at Longhorn's. Thursday was the wide open day. We headed to Atlanta around 10 and made it to The Puppetry Arts of Atlanta right on time to see a show all about dinosaurs- EK LOVED it!!!

Fall Break1

We had thought we would eat lunch at The Varsity but the girls vetoed that idea and we ended up at The Old Spaghetti Factory- yummy! After lunch we found our way to Zoo Atlanta... we loved the giraffes and pandas. It was the perfect day to be there- cool and breezy.

Fall Break2

Fall Break3

Our next stop was Turner Field for a Braves game. Getting there early scored us a great table in center field at The Chop House. We had great seats in the 6th row behind the dugout but EK and I chose to stay at our table and enjoy the game. It was the perfect ending to the perfect day because Savannah and Josh were able to join us. It was so great to hang out with them and catch up. We miss them both so much!!!

Fall Break4

The rest of the week was pretty calm and Saturday night Scott and I went to his 30th year HS reunion. It was fun to get dressed up and go out for a fun night. Scott had so much fun catching up with old classmates and remembering old times- crazy ones I might add. When we returned home, we were shocked to find Scott's truck rolled with TP and saran wrap. He couldn't believe the girls' friends would be so brave to roll HIS truck. Finally Sunday, Amelia confessed she and her BF Sarah had done it... we thought it was hilarious- at least I did...

Ella Appleseed

EK and her class celebrated Johnny Appleseed Day and came home with a hat. She did not like wearing it but put it on for a quick pic.
