Max's first day at Cross Roads...

More Tennis

Saturday, February 21, 2009

A & R have been practicing tennis for over a month now and had their first matches this past week. They both play 2 doubles and both won their matches in a tie breaker, nail biter!!! EK really had fun at both blowing bubbles and running around!

Two More Stories

Friday, February 20, 2009

As we were driving home from the beach, EK asked 1000 times if we were almost to Memommy's house. So we had to take her by there for a short visit Friday afternoon. She was able to go back last night while Scott and I were at church. She and momma took a walk outside where EK happened upon a bunch of flowers. Of course she was allowed to pick as many as she wanted and had them in a vase for me when I came to get her. I shot somes pics this morning as she admired them again. Thanks momma for making a little girl VERY happy!!!

Today Scott rushed into the family room and had EK and I look out our back window. We saw two beautiful deer grazing under a tree- calm and brave- allowing us the pleasure of watching them. EK thinks they were reindeer sent by Santa to check on her. Funny what they think right??? So sweet!

Our Last Day

Thursday, February 19, 2009

Today was a warm one- the sun shining, a high of 70, but very windy. The wind was blowing so hard, the sand hurt our legs so we moved up close to the building. It was pretty warm and the girls enjoyed getting a little sun. EK LOVED building a sandcastle with her dad. A great way to spend our last day!!!

Beach 2-19

Tennis Anyone?

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Yesterday was a very cold day but pretty. Scott and Amelia ran in the morning. Me and Rosemary walked to the tennis courts where Scott and Amelia were with EK at the playground. We all played a little tennis and just enjoyed being together. Today was a very wet day so we went to see Confessions of a Shopaholic, did a little shopping, ate dinner, and rented a movie. We are having a wonderful time!!!

A Day at the Beach

Monday, February 16, 2009

Our first full day at the beach was wonderful! EK and I saw a beautiful sunrise, Scott and I had a great run (I thought I was gonna stroke), we played on the beach, and Marcia came!!!

Playing on the beach was fun but very cold- the wind made it so cold! EK made a sandcastle with Mill and they all chased the seagulls. Scott and EK were walking along the water's edge searching for shells when a surprise wave came in and soaked their shoes and EK's pants. It took their breath away- the big girls had already put their feet in- cold was not even the word for it. No pics of me because I was so bundled, you would have thought we were playing in the snow- I am very cold natured! Good thing Marcia and fam pulled up- we got to go in!!! :)

It was the greatest to have Marcia and her family here for the day!!! We just hung out in the condo letting the kids play and then went to a local seafood place for dinner. Afterwards we stopped at the big shark store so EK could walk through but it was closed- she was not happy. Marcia found her dream bike too :) JK! We went to a tiny, very desserted mall and walked around- the best part was Books-A-Million. We said goodbye and they headed home. We are planning to go see them tomorrow- about 2 hours away.

Eating Out

Just a GREAT pic!

Two Sweet Stories

EllaKate and I got up this morning just as the sun was sitting on the water. The whole front wall of the condo is glass and EK gasped. She said, "What is that?" I looked out and saw the sunrise realizing she has probably never seen the sunrise. I explained that the sun is rising in the east from China and now they are going to sleep while we are awake- you should have seen her face... priceless.

Now about this big red dog... Aunt Susan gave him to EK for Valentine's Day and can I just say, he has not left her side. We have endearingly named him Clifford and EK LOVES him. He even made the trip to the beach with us. Thanks Aunt Susan & Uncle Tony!

Sunday, February 15, 2009

We made it to the beach and are all settled in! Not long after we arrived, EK had already dove right into her school stash. She made a cat mask and talked Rosie into making a raccoon one. We ate this and that for dinner and watched Dreamer- EK LOVES horses so she loved the movie!

My Beautiful Girl

Happy Valentine's Day

Saturday, February 14, 2009

Let me tell you a story...
Savannah and Josh took a trip to Tennesee: Josh has family there. He got her tickets to a dinner cruise on the Tenn river (Friday) and Savannah bought him tickets to the Vols basketball game (Saturday). They got there mid afternoon Friday and dressed for the cruise. They sat down for dinner and Josh put out a little white box. She emailed me and said... "Look". We saw the box, I asked her what it was and that was all we heard for about 45 minutes... We finally got another email that said, "It is diamond earrings and I got a migraine and I threw up". Oh my... on a dinner cruise and sick- what a terrible time for a migraine. She did feel better but not herself until today. They have had a fun time and pray they have a safe trip home tomorrow!!!

J&S Valentines

Today we celebrate a happy day with the girls. Here are a few pictures of them opening their Valentine surprises- looks like Dora and Vera were the hit!!!

Valentine Girls

Do you see EK's reaction when she saw money??? Thanks momma- it will come in handy at the beach!!!

And we had big company today... Our sweet best friends from Atlanta, the Cains who live in Athens now came over for a visit. They have such precious kids and their son just gave his heart to Christ this week! What a great testimony to his family! I taught SE and W in school, and GA was born right before we came home from China with EK. It was great to hang out and just talk.

EK & Madelyn

Thursday, February 12, 2009

We enjoyed a fun playday at Madelyn and Ms. Sheryl's house yesterday. I think the girls' favorite thing was sliding on the slide! The faster the better- Sheryl and I were shooting the whole time!!!

My Sewing Week

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

I guess I don't even have to say how much I am loving my new machine. I haven't done any more monogramming- just sewing. Here are the outfits I made this week all but the last blue madris one. I have to say, it might be a good thing I am going to the beach for a week, so I won't be able to sew for a while. Sometimes I just have to get control of myself- when I get started on something, I go big. I hope to focus on my camera and scrapbooking while away for the week. The girls are off for Winter Break so we got the condo in Myrtle Beach for the week.

They Came Our Way!

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Today we had a fun day hanging out with Lynn and Olivia!!! It was such a treat to talk, play, and eat. We didn't sew but we talked about it a lot. The girls had a ball- we really didn't have to worry about them at all- they took care of each other. They are such sweet friends. One of the highlights was using the stamps- messy but oh so fun. Look forward to playing again very soon!

Beautiful Sunday

Monday, February 9, 2009

Sunday was a day of church and family time outside. What a beautiful day!!! We hung EK's swing and she LOVED it! Looking forward to the 60 degree weather this week!!!

A Great Saturday

Sunday, February 8, 2009

This was a great weekend! Savannah came home Thursday and we had a girls day on Friday shopping and doing lunch (the workers were here putting down the new hardwoods). It was a big movie rental weekend too. Thursday night we watched Fireproof again with the girls and Friday night we watched The Secret Life of Bees- both excellent! I made this cute dress for EK Friday afternoon.

Josh came Friday night after work (10pm)- got here around midnight. Saturday was a big day. We bought tickets to take all the kids to a Gymdawg meet against Auburn- we beat like a drum!!! We ate lunch @ Schlotski's, ran a few errands, went to the meet, rode around Athens to relive my glory days, and ended the night with a good ole' chili dog from the Varisty. We all came home and watched Dan in Real Life. This was a suggestion from Lynn- and can I just say... it is now my favorite movie!!! I LOVE movies with good family stories and happy endings :). It's a must and I am buying it to keep!!!

Morning School

Thursday, February 5, 2009

I try to do school with EllaKate every other day. Sometimes we do it days in a row if we are home because she LOVES it. If she has a choice of play or school, she always chooses school. Today we went started with a Bible story and prayer then moved into all her Kumon books. She loves it. Her pencil grasp has gotten stronger and she works hard.

When I taught K, I made a game for them to play called Flash. Depending on the skill, I would write something on giant Popsicle sticks and put them upside down in a cup with one stick having a star on it. If you drew a stick and could identify, you kept the stick. If you didn't know it, you put it back. If you pulled the star, Flash, you lost all your sticks and had to start over.

Today I made EK a set of capital letters and numbers- no flash sitck- she couldn't handle it. We played where she drew a stick and named the letter or number, kept it if she knew it and handed it to me if she didn't. She then placed them in a row and named them as quick as she could. We also went over the ones that tricked her. She LOVED it!!! There a million things you could do with this game. Next step is to add lowercase letters and then matching upper to lower and ABC order. We always name sounds and soon will be making words. Hope this idea sparks some good game playing at your house!

My Birthday

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

I had a great birthday all in all. I woke up to the sweetest post written by my oldest daughter Savannah, who hacked my password and took control- thanks sweetheart for your sweet words. I will cherish them forever.

Today is my amazing mom's birthday! I just want everyone to know how thankful I, along with all my sisters and dad, we are for her. Here are just a few reasons why we love her so much:
-She is the most wonderful encouragement to anyone's day.
-She always puts everyone before herself.
-She is so smart and is good at a million things!!!
-She is what holds our family together, by being positive and loving.
-Although she has gone through so much she lives each day to the fullest and embraces what's to come.
-She is an amazing example of a Godly wife and mother.
-She has reminded my sisters and I everyday that we were made perfect and are beautiful on the inside and out.
-She is my best friend, who I can talk to about anything.
-She stays home each day to nurture, teach, and love EllaKate, while keeping the house in pretty much perfect order.
-She makes us all laugh.
-She shows us how to love and treat our husbands one day.
-She encourages us all daily to strive to do better, especially in our walk with Christ.

Mama you're amazing and I am so thankful to have you in my life! I don't know what I would do without you. Thank you for being the person I confide in, cry with, and laugh a lot with! Thank you for taking the time my whole life to understand me and guide me. Without you I wouldn't be who I am today. Also, thank you for taking time to write on this blog so one day we can all look back and see all these wonderful memories!!

I love you to the moon and back,
Your oldest...Savannah

Scott wrote me the sweetest note and sent flowers, plus gave me a Storybook maker from CM and running pants. He covered it all and I loved it! The girls gave great hugs and sweet cards. We all ate dinner at Sibling's, cake from The Green Bean, and sang happy birthday about 9:00. All day EllaKate had been asking when we were going to sing. We waited for everyone to get back home from meetings and ballgames to sing. She loved it and Scott took pictures but I can't find my photo card. I will post when I find it. I am thankful to be a year older and healthy enough to do what I do everyday!!! Blessed beyond belief!
