A Fiesta Weekend

Sunday, September 28, 2008

Fiesta Saturday:
Josh and Savannah came home!!! We were so happy to see them. Amelia invited Chase over (homecoming date) and we all played a little football (I took pics). Later Scott and I prepared a fiesta of fajitas, mexican layer dip, homemade salsa, taco black beans, and spanish rice with lemon cake for dessert. Momma, daddy, Jason, Amy, and baby Max came over to eat and watch the Georgia game. The food was great- the football was NOT!!! We went to bed feeling very blessed to have spent such sweet time together!

We all went to church and out for lunch @ Cateechee. It was a great time together and then back home for more football- the Falcons. They aren't doing much better than GA. Savannah and Josh are on their way back, Scott and Amelia went to play tennis, Rosie is getting ready for youth, and EllaKate is napping. What a relaxing day to work on my blog, scrapbook, and read blogs.

A Fall Weekend

Monday, September 22, 2008

Amy's sister, Julie and son, Dawson were here to visit from Michigan this weekend. Dawson and EllaKate are about the same age and hit it off right away. They played inside, outside, in the pool, in EK's room, everywhere! Dawson is just a sweetie!!! It was great to spend time with Julie too- she and Amy loved being together. The whole family was over for lunch on Sunday and we watched the Falcons! Amelia has a bug collection for Biology due on Friday so we have been desperately searching for 40 different kinds- we have 31 now! It was a great Fall weekend- cool and wonderful outside! Happy 1st Day of Fall to all!!!

Paint Party

Sunday, September 21, 2008

College life is in full swing for Savannah and her Phi Mu sisters. Their sorority hosted a Paint Party for the campus to raise money for their philanthropy- Children's Miracle Network. (This is why she missed the little vacation we had as a family.) It was very successful and terrific fun was had by all. It sort of reminds me of Paint Day when I taught kindergarten ;).I am so thankful she has such precious friends to be there for her while she is away @ school. We can't wait for her to be home with us this coming weekend!!!

Spring Break

Thursday, September 18, 2008

We are so thankful to be back home tonight!!!

We left home yesterday morning on a mission to find a homecoming dress for both Amelia and Rosemary. Bingo!!! We looked at 3 places and found a purple one for A and pink for R- they look beautiful in them! Lunch was shared with Sheryl, Linzi, and Ally- we loved seeing them!!! We picked Scott up at work about 4 and headed to Buckhead for the night. We checked into our hotel and went to Maggiano's for dinner- my favorite place- so delicious!!!

WELL, imagine our surprise when we got back out to our car and found a BOOT on our tire!!! Supposedly the boot guy saw a lady walk away from our car and cross over to another premises- according to him, that isn't allowed- so he booted the car. We called him and he came right away, asking where we had been. We said Maggiano's and showed him our receipt. He immediately began apologizing that he had made a mistake and said, "No charge"... oh no kidding??? How crazy was that???

We took the girls to Lenox for a little while and then to Cheesecake Factory for dessert. I think we made it back to the hotel about 10, watched Jon & Kate + 8 marathon, and fell asleep. This morning we were up by 8 and ate breakfast @ the Flying Biscuit- so yummy- have you ever had Organic Oatmeal Pancakes?- extra yummy!!! Then to the GA Aquarium!!!

This was Scott's, mine, and EllaKate's first visit to the aquarium. EllaKate was amazed when we first walked in. We especially loved the walk through tunnel and the beluga whale exhibit. We also watched a really cool 3D movie about taking care of the ocean. Do you see the bottom middle picture? EllaKate is pointing to the fish she wants to take home :).

We crossed the street and played in Centennial Park for a while. We were starving and decided to make a stop @ Atlantic Station for a visit. We ate @ Fox Sports Grill, walked around the whole area (loved Target!), and ended the day with a Coldstone ice cream!!! EllaKate gave it up and we made our way home.

It was a GREAT 2 days but we are so glad to be home washing clothes, sleeping in our own beds, and able to sleep in tomorrow morning. Scott is staying home and I think we may take our boat out for one last day before we winterize it. We are looking forward to a great weekend!!!

Lunch w/ Lynn and Livi

Tuesday, September 16, 2008

We drove over to have lunch with Lynn and Olivia today. We ate at a wonderful Chinese Bistro and had a delicious meal! We did a little shopping together and the girls had a ball. We are so thankful for our new friends and plan to see them as often as we can;)!

Momentum Youth Retreat

Sunday, September 14, 2008

Rosemary's Hartwell FMC youth group went on a retreat this weekend up to the Athens Y camp. Scott, myself, and EllaKate went as adult leaders. We left Friday after school, stopped on the way up for dinner, and made it just before dark. We checked in and took our stuff to the cabin- 6 bunkbeds, 2 showers, 2 toilets, and open windows with screens- no air. It was pretty rustic but perfect for a retreat! Scott and EK went straight to the lake to throw rocks and see the ducks and dogs.

We were up until about 11:30 each night and EK usually crashed during the worship time. She slept with me both nights in her own sleeping bag- she thought that was the greatest! We didn't get much sleep but it was all good- the girls in our cabin had a ball!!! Here are some pics of worship time which included a band, a crazy skit, a worship speaker, and fun games! We had lots of kids give their lives to Christ and rededicate last night during the worship time. They were challenged to go back to their schools and be 'different' as lights for Christ. The thing that struck me the most was a statement made last night... "Everything we do is worship and a witness of our love for Christ: our talk, our clothing, our music, our books we read, the way we use of time..."- that really got me thinking! I am praying that each one of these girls and boys will live OUT LOUD for Christ like never before!!!

During the worship times, EllaKate and I sat out on the wrap-around porch surrounding the lodge. We could hear and see everything that went on but she could move around a little more. I had bought some really great Kumon books (suggestion from Deb) for us to use for school and I took them with us. EllaKate LOVES them and I was trying to have her complete only one per book: coloring, cutting, and pasting... but she wanted to keep working- how could I tell her no? We did about 10 pages in each book and I just saw on the Target website, there are sequels to each of them. What's the worst thing that could happen? I have to rebuy them and let her do them all again- Is that so bad? I think she has asked to do school about 1000 times this weekend :)!!!

The Y camp had tons of activities for the kids. First of all if they were going to participate in any water sports, they had to take a swim test and put a bracelet on their arm. They could go off the diving boards, down a VERY long water slide, jump from a 3 story platform, or take a ride in the canoes. Other things included a tall climb up the ropes tower and then zip swing down, paint ball archery, crawdad hunting, ropes course... and more that I can't remember. The kids loved it!

We got back home about lunch time so the kids could catch a ride home with their parents leaving church. We picked up lunch, unpacked and started a ton of laundry, and now everyone is napping except the official blogger of the house. I just had to get this posted and then catch up on my blog friends out there. Happy Sunday!!!

Scarecrow Sam

Saturday, September 13, 2008

Today EllaKate and I had to run to Ingles for a few things to take on our trip. When we went in, there were fall things all around. We made our way through the store and made it to check out just to find little scarecrows just her size. This happens to be one of her favorite sayings, "That's just my size"- so how could I say no when she asked to take one home. While scanning him, I asked her what she was naming him and without one moment's hesitation, she said, "Scarecrow Sam!". I just had to laugh:)! I had to shoot a few shots of them when we got home. I was afraid she wouldn't understand that he needed to stand outside by the door, but she didn't argue with me and now he keeps watch by our side door- Watch out Crows!!!

Go Rosie

Friday, September 12, 2008

Rosie cheered last night @ the HCMS game in Madison. We thought the game started @ 6 but no, it was @ 5. The good thing about that is we arrived @ half time and EllaKate only had to hold on for about an hour. She was pretty worn out from a day of modeling:). You can see she is wearing her Livi Lu fashion and wanted to wear it to bed but I talked her out of it.

Rosie did such a great job and we are so glad she loves cheering. Amelia was actually running in a cross country meet in Stephens- wonder why we weren't there to cheer her on and take pictures- she doesn't want us to come. This is her first year running and she says she's not that good. We are so proud of her too- she has improved her time at each meet. Hopefully she will let us come by the end of the season.

We are off to a middle school retreat with Rosie's youth group this weekend so probably won't be able to blog until I get home- boy will that be hard!!! Happy weekend to all!!!

A Big Day

Thursday, September 11, 2008

We are off the Anderson today to meet up with two friends with Chinese daughters- Deb & Li LI and Lynn & Olivia. Deb is doing a photo shoot with the girls and Lynn (Livi Lu)is bringing her cute creations for them to wear!!! I am just the assistant to the photographer and seamstress. Seriously I am sooooooooooooooo excited to see them and enjoy the miracle of our girls! I will post pics when I get home this afternoon. Today is a big day- A has a cross country meet and R has a football game. EK is along for the ride and S is right her in my heart- miss you sweet girl!!!

Have a blessed day everyone and if you are reading this post, please post a comment and let me hear from you- I have been checking and see there are tons of hits but hardly any comments. I would really love to hear from my friends out there!!!

Today was a very happy day. EllaKate got to spend time with two friends, Li Li and Olivia. Deb was the official photographer and you can tell from the slideshow, she's serious about it. Lynn was the official clothing designer and can I just say, "I love her creations @ Livi Lu!!!" Ian came along to be his mom's competent assistant!

We drove to a great spot by the lake and I shot about 325 images and Deb shot over 500. The girls were so agreeable and looked adorable. We changed them into 2 outifts for the shoot and even changed their hair. At one time, Deb told EllaKate to sit down on the ground and EK looked at me with the most puzzling look as if to ask, "Is it ok Mom?"- and you should have seen her face when Deb asked her to lie down on the ground- oh my. I don't think she has really ever lain on the ground for fear of ant bites. She loved it!!!

I had a great day because I spent time with Deb whom I haven't seen for weeks and I met a new friend, Lynn. We had a ball watching our girls run around and love being together. We had a great lunch and parted ways. I didn't want our day to end but just want to say how thankful I am for the time we shared and the friendship we nurtured!!! Can't wait to hang out with you girls again soon!!!

Looking for beautiful clothing for your beautiful little beauty- pop over to Lynn's site, Livi Lu and take a look @ her creations!!! I have my order in so be sure to check it out. Looking for an amazing photographer to capture precious moments, check out Deb's sites and make an appt with her too. Hope everyone enjoys our LivivLu Beauties!!!

Thankful Thursday

Today I count 3 blessings I am thankful for:
1. I am so thankful for my sister and her family. When she comes home, we all get so excited!!!

I love you and miss you beyond measure!!!

2. I am so thankful Jason and Amy moved to Hartwell. I love living so close to them and running over to hold Max whenever I want!!! Amy and I enjoyed a delicious lunch together and just hung out! Life is good!!! Jason and Amy are the best first time parents ever!!!
3. I am so thankful to be home with EllaKate each day to teach and watch her learn new things each day- I don't want to miss out on a thing!!! EK got these scissors in happy meal and you should have seen her eyes when she saw them. We came home and began scissor instruction immediately... she did great!!!

Concentrating so hard!!!

Labor Day Weekend

Tuesday, September 2, 2008

Our Labor Day was actually full of labor in the yard. Scott cleaned gutters and cleared some areas that have grown up so much in the woods. I drove him around in the golf cart:). We had a visit from the Cains as they were on their way home to Athens. The kids had grown so much and Grace Anne was just precious!!! Our girls enjoyed the pool and we grilled so we could eat by the pool. Later we made ice cream and sat outside until the stars began to twinkle. After a walk, I got EllaKate down, and Scott and I took our coffee out by the pool again to relax before bed. The perfect ending to a GREAT weekend!!!
