Memorial Day

Thursday, May 29, 2008

Friday was such a busy day! Savannah was working, Rosie was enjoying her last day of school, Amelia was fast asleep, and I was running crazy. My mom and I met a painter at the new house for a run through to get a quote for painting the house ceilings to baseboards. In the meantime I was taking and picking up Jordan for one exam he had to take. I put EllaKate down and ran to get my eyebrows done. I was also expecting my sweet friend Beth Hendry from Atlanta. We have taught together for so long and she has taught Savannah, Amelia, and Rosemary. The best thing about her is... she is adopting a precious little girl, Abby, from China too. As a matter of fact, we are both logged in on June 20, 2007 (1 year coming up) both with CCAI and believe we will travel to China together and probably adopt babies from the same orphanage!!! How amazing is that? Also I am trying to talk her into moving to Hartwell so our girls can grow up together :-)!!! Now you are probably wondering why she came? Well, she is truly gifted with an eye for design. Her house is beautiful and she came to help me pick paint colors, carpet, position furniture, and decide on new things I might need. She took a look at the 'cottage' and then we went to the new house for a look. It was a fun time!!! Because Savannah was at work, we had to run down to see her.

Savannah took an intern position with our local Chamber of Commerce for the summer. She is enjoying it. They just finished a project this past weekend called Cars and Guitars under the Stars. Now they are working on The Pre-Fourth Extravaganza. It is a fun time of booths on the square, dance on Depot Street, and a fantastic fireworks show shot from the dam. Last year we went by boat out to watch the show and it was quite magical! This is a picture I shot of Beth, EllaKate, and Savannah outside the Chamber.

On the way home, Beth stopped by a fabric store and picked up a few swatches of fabric for my house just from the memory of my paint colors. I will post about that later.

Later that evening, my sister Marcia and Becca came and we all went to watch Jessica graduate. It was a cool evening with the threat of rain but held off during the ceremony. She was an honor graduate and we were all so proud of her!!! EllaKate and I left a little early and the rest of the crowd went for ice cream.

The weekend was filled with family and friends out on the lake and then in for the evening with a cookout. We went to church Sunday morning and had lunch at my moms but other than that we were on the boat or jet ski. We grilled hamburgers/ hotdogs, chicken fajitas, and BBQ chicken. The best thing about the holiday was having Jason, Amy, Marcia, and Becca home to hang out with us. I am looking so forward to having Jason and Amy home for good probably in July. Have I mentioned they are moving into this house when we move to the new house? Still working on Marcia... :-) I dedicate this video to my family and the wonderful love we all share for each other! I am so thankful!!! OH AND IT IS THANKFUL THURSDAY!!! That worked out just perfect!!!

Awards Day

Thursday, May 22, 2008

The two youth groups, HFBaptist and HFMethodist bashed last night for the end of the year party. There were bands, food, dares, a message, and water balloon fight. It was so great to be there shooting great shots of the girls and their friends! We are so blessed to be close to so many wonderful believers!!!

I am finally posting about our wonderful weekend with family and friends. Thursday evening we were invited for a celebratory dinner with the Lopes for Oryan. He was leaving for officer's boot camp in Quantico, Virgina. He will be a senior @ the Citadel this fall and will be gone 2 weeks this summer. We are all SO proud of him!!!

While @ their house, the Cains came by as they were at the lake with family for the weekend. It was so great to spend time with them. EllaKate and Grace Anne are one year apart but you would never guess in how well they played together. The cutest thing was EllaKate wanting to hold Grace Anne. I loved watching them read together too!
Jessica is graduating tomorrow night as a honor graduate. Savannah, EllaKate, and I went with mama and Jessica to Cateechee for a lunch celebration. We are so proud of her. She will be moving to Athens to attend Gainesville College, Athens campus and major in early childhood ed.

EllaKate and I went to Rosemary's Awards Day Celebration yesterday. It seemed every minute or so they called Rosie's name for recognition. She received a Presidential award for PE, a PE award for running a marathon throughout the year, a science and technology award, and a trophy for honor roll (all A's the whole year). We are so proud of her and happy of how well she has done this year @ HCMS.

A Wonderful Recital

Monday, May 19, 2008

Scott, the girls, Memommy and I all enjoyed a beautiful Hot Shots recital Saturday. Rosemary performed a cheer and dance as well as two baton routines. EllaKate performed a ballet and tumbling routine. We all sat mesmerized by the preciousness of the little ones- everyone practically gasped when they walked out on the stage. At the first performance, EllaKate just stood there during ballet and didn't move. At the second one, she actually watched the teachers and did a few moves. Rosemary did great at both shows. Just like Amelia, this was Rosemary's first year in cheerleading and baton. We were amazed at all she has accomplished!!! Now they are begging me to put her in dance- ballet and jazz- they say she has strength and grace. Well... that is her middle name: Rosemary Grace Ankerich. So it looks like we will have a full schedule again next year! Sure glad Amelia will be driving!!!

Amelia's Tennis Banquet

Saturday, May 17, 2008

Scott and I went with Amelia to her tennis banquet Tuesday evening. We are excited she has found a sport she loves as much as gymnastics- well almost. Both she and Rosemary are going to tennis camp this summer.

Hot Shots Rehearsal

Thursday, May 15, 2008

We have had two nights of rehearsal for the Hot Shots recital this week. There will be two shows
on Saturday. EllaKate will perform for ballet and tumbling. Rosemary will perform two baton routines and one cheerleading routine with a stunt. We are not allowed to video or shoot pics @ the actual performance but I was able to take a few pics @ rehearsal. Here are a couple of pages I scrapped for the girls.

Mother's Day

Sunday, May 11, 2008

There is nothing more wonderful than being the mom of these 4 beautiful girls!!! I am so blessed by each one. The words written in their cards brought me to tears and the love in their eyes took my breath away. They are each so unique and amazing. Watching them mature into the young women God wants them to be is my privilege each day. I am so thankful to be their mom and receive their precious love. I love each of you sweet girls so much!!!

I am the mom I am because of my mama. She is such a precious person and we all love her with all our heart. I don't have a lot of pictures of her- she always tries to be in the background. I usually have to sneak and take them of her. I went back and found this picture of her in October. She probably won't like it but... she is looking at EllaKate. This picture sums up the love she has for each of her children and grandchildren. They are her life and she puts them ahead of herself all the time. I love you mama and want you to know how amazing you are to us!

The bunny

Saturday, May 10, 2008

My sister Marcia and her family are here for Mother's Day. Her children, Rebecca and Samuel brought their pet bunnies- Oreo and Cupcake. EllaKate thought they were just the sweetest!!!

A Family

EllaKate and I ventured out in the yard early this morning while everyone else was still sleeping. We let Fisher out to play, swung in the swing, and walked around. She saw a flower growing in our back pine isle all alone.

EK: Look Mommy, he has no family (pointing to the flower)
Me: Oh that's sad
EK: Oh!!! There's his family. A mommy, daddy, and some sisters (pointing to my neighbor's flowers)
Me: I am so happy.
EK: Me too.
I took a minute to watch her figure out how a solitary little flower could have a family. That's the best Mother's Day present of all. After two years of constant love and care, EllaKate knows what a family is and what it means to be loved by them. What more could a mom ask for?

Happy Meal

Thursday, May 8, 2008

EllaKate and I were out running errands right up to lunchtime, so I asked her what she wanted to eat. I wanted to just pick up something and asked if she wanted Zaxby's? She said no- I want McDonald's. We never get McDonald's except for breakfast every so often so I thought- what can it hurt? EllaKate was introduced to a happy meal today and LOVED it! I may have started something I will regret- I will have to come up with some guidelines!!! Doesn't she look happy?

Weekend Recap

Tuesday, May 6, 2008

Ok... I can't wait until Friday to post so I am doing it when the girls are at school and not when they are home from school- not that I ever do -there is NO time! Today Amelia has a tennis meeting and Rosemary has her first cheerleading practice, then Rosemary has to go to Hot Shots @ 6- non-stop but I LOVE it!!!

On Saturday Scott and I ran the Lake Hartwell Dam Run with Jeff. It was the best run ever- so organized and the weather was perfect. The best part- we were home by 10am to hang with the girls. Next year, we plan to have all the girls run with us. If you are a runner, we would love for you to come up and run with us too- a big running party...

Sunday was our first day out on the lake! The marina had gotten the boat ready for the summer last week so we called down and had them put it in the water. We were pleasantly surprised that the lake was up with really no low spots. The girls all got in- even EllaKate. It was a very relaxing afternoon. We look forward to many more days on our boat.

Oh... and I am living vicariously right now through Savannah who is away with her best friends from college for a beach week. This is a picture she sent me today of the view!!! Breathtaking!!!
