EK and Madelyn

Wednesday, January 30, 2008

Today we had Ms. Sheryl and Madelyn over to play. We played all EllaKate's favorite things. Madelyn always loves riding the little horse and they played kitchen of course! Sheryl and I enjoyed having some time to talk and catch up. EllaKate is getting her hair cut @ 2 so we better run.

Princess Magic

Monday, January 28, 2008

As I was helping EllaKate get dressed this morning, I asked her to get a pair of socks from her drawer. She came back with the socks and a pair of Jasmine panties... and said, "Mama, can I wear these Jasmine panties?" OF COURSE you can!!! We had a little talk about Jasmine not wanting to get wet so she would have to go potty when she needed to. Well, we have gone all day without an accident and she has used the potty too!!! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! I am probably guilty of letting Ella watch too much tv in the car, but she loves her princess movies. We just recently bought Aladdin and Pocahontas. I guess I shouldn't underestimate the magic of the princesses!!!

A Saturday Morning Ritual/Match Day

Sunday, January 27, 2008

Every Saturday morning, Scott goes to our little Donuts on Depot shop to get bagels and donuts. EllaKate always asks if she can have a pink one. It is her favorite!!! I decided to shoot pictures today so I could scrapbook a page for her album.

Two years ago today we layed eyes on the most precious little face in the world. We all knew we were getting the call so we all stayed home from work and school. We waited all morning and finally about 11:30, Scott called CCAI and they were just about to call us. We hung up and waited a little longer. Unbeknown to us, Dick Deitz, GA director of CCAI was in Denver for match calls and was given the privilege of calling us.

The phone rang and I was shaking like a leaf. He began to talk and I wrote furiously every single word he verbalized. He told us her name and I kept making him say it over and over and over- the name I had longed to hear for so long: Qian Shuang Jiang, in Chongqing, China, 9 months old. We would be getting a picture via email in a little while of when she was 7 months old. I could barely wait!!! At one time, Dick had to take a moment to collect himself because he was so emotional- can't even describe in words how we felt- if you have adopted, YOU KNOW!!!!! We asked many questions and Dick said he would send us a picture when we hung up.

The time waiting for the picture was eternal... All of a sudden, a picture began to form from top to bottom of the most precious baby in the world. We all gasped and our breaths were snatched away. We all had tremendous tears running down our faces. I was in love... and barely able to wait to show the world... and wait to travel to China to get the fifth part of my heart that I had given away that day... Thank you Jesus for one of the most precious gifts in my life. Blessed beyond belief? I definitely know so!!!

Bid Day @ NG!

Monday, January 21, 2008

Since the snow didn't come to us, we went to it... in Gainesville on the way to see Savannah today. There was a church that had tons of snow still on the ground so we stopped to let EllaKate play. She thought it was soooooooooo cold!!! The girls LOVED throwing snowballs @ their dad. I took picures of course. So fun!!!
Savannah had rush this weekend and got her bid for Phi Mu yesterday morning so we went up to see her. We watched her run down the hill and join her new sisters. We were able to take pictures and talk to her a little while and then they had a full day of fun. We are so excited for her and her new adventure!

EK @ Nora's Dora Party

Saturday, January 19, 2008

Well... we waited all day for snow but to no avail. We are still hoping we might have some in the morning. EllaKate has made some really sweet friends at Hot Shots in ballet class. Today she was invited to her friend Nora's third birthday party. Nora loves Dora so that was the theme. When we came in from breaking the pinata, the cake had been stolen and clues were in the Dora backpack. The girls searched the whole house and finally found it in the laundry room. Whew... that was a close one. EllaKate had a great time and is already looking forward to her party!

No, not much here but we are out of school. It snowed just a little last night after dark but there was none on the ground this morning. The girls slept late and around lunch time, Amelia spotted a little snow (ice) on the trampoline so she went out and made this tiny snowman. Her fingers were purple when she came back in. There is a chance we may have some snow Friday night- we shall see. Savannah had almost 3 inches in Dahlonega, school is closed, and she is supposed to send me pictures of their snowman. I will post when she sends them to me.

A Party Day

Sunday, January 13, 2008

We began the day with a drive into town for Li Li's birthday party. Each little girl dressed in their favorite princess dress and enjoyed having their make up done and their fingernails painted. This was right up EllaKate's alley- she LOVES to dress up and play princess. She asks me quite often if she looks like CinderELLA. :-) Of course she does, only much more beautiful!!! Savannah and Rosemary went with me. It was so great to see Savannah. She has a very big week coming up at school so please be thinking of her. She also has a precious hall mate whose mom passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack yesterday am. Savannah and a couple of friends drove up to see Hannah. Please pray their family will be comforted in this sad time and all the girls can be there for their friend.

After Li Li's party, we had lunch with Bev and Carol (Shelby, Emma, and Anna). It was great to catch up. We ran a few errands and then went to Shelby's birthday party @ Monkey Joe's. It was a huge building full of jumping things. There were two areas for different age children. EllaKate loved playing with Anna, Emma, and Li Li. Rosemary had a ball going on the big kid things and playing with the little girls too. I am so sad I didn't even get a picture of Shelby. I may get one from someone's stash of pics from the party. We had a great time. As soon as we got in the car to come home, EllaKate was asleep. She had played herself completely out.

EK's Shoes

Wednesday, January 9, 2008

Funny Story...
Last Friday the girls and I did a little shopping while in Atlanta. Amelia, Rosemary, and EllaKate all chose a new pair of shoes all of which were not in stock and had to be mailed to our house. All three pairs from different stores were delivered Thursday. EllaKate wanted to put her new shoes on as soon as I took them out of the box. This is the funny part: As soon as I put them on her, she bent over and pushed on both big toes with her thumbs and then squeezed the sides of her shoes to see if they fit well. She did exactly what the lady @ the shoe store had done. I am continuously amazed @ what she hears, remembers, and verbalizes.

EK's Playhouse

Tuesday, January 8, 2008

EllaKate and I had a great time being outside yesterday. It was the perfect temperature! I shot about 95 pictures so I would for sure get some really good ones. I scrapbooked a couple of pages to go in her album.

Visiting Savannah

Well, we are just hanging out waiting on school to start back. The girls have been ready for about a week now. Yesterday we went to see Alvin and the chipmunks and EllaKate loved it and sat through the whole thing. This was a first! We later picked up pizzas for dinner and mama and daddy came down to eat with us!

Today we are off to North Georgia to see Savannah. She is doing great! She has changed her major to business and hopes to specialize in non-profit. We are praying about it and know God will lead her down the path she should go. We are excited to be going to see her. We will only have time to eat lunch with her between classes. We have to get back for Rosie's piano lesson and EllaKate's ballet class.
