Savannah's INTRO to NG

Saturday, June 23, 2007

On Sunday, we followed Savannah and her roommate, Kristen to North Georgia for INTRO weekend. We heard some informative talks about everything there is to know about NG. While we went to parent sessions, Savannah toured campus with a small group. She was so excited when we saw her right before we left. She gets to stay until Tuesday @ noon. She called today and I asked if she was homesick- she laughed and said NO! I love it here! Scott and I are so relieved that she loves it so much! We had a very peaceful feeling as we drove away on Sunday. I think come August 19 when we move her in for good, I might drive away crying my eyes out, but she won't see. I will be strong for her- she is ready for this new season of life.

Our Anniversary Present

Thursday, June 21, 2007

June 21st was our 21st wedding anniversary, so we took EllaKate to our Hartwell house to stay with my mom while we went away for the night. This was only the second night I have ever slept away from her. The other time being last year on our anniversary when she barely slept all night. This year was great! She slept in her bed all by herself, all night! What a sweet girl. We went to Snowbird Mountain Lodge, and we had a fabulous time. On the way, we went through Highlands and did a little shopping. I am always on the lookout for one particular thing and this year I found the perfect table for our kitchen in Hartwell to give me a little more cooking space. It is beautiful! While there I had the wildest thought of how great it would be to get our log in date for our anniversary. Well, we checked on Friday and did not see any news. Needless to say, I was a little disappointed but knew God knew when. This morning, Scott went into work and checked his mail first thing. Guess what? It was there plain as day- we just missed it. We had received an email on June 20th that said...

Re: CCAI Log-In Date & Packet

Congratulations! Your dossier has been logged in by the China Center of Adoption Affairs.

Your official dossier log-in date (LID) is: 6/20/2007.

What a great anniversary present!!! I was actually driving to Hartwell when Scott called to tell me and I could barely stay on the road from all the screaming we all did. We are officially waiting on sweet baby Shaylee now. That's not all!!! Our friends, the Hendry family, were logged in on June 20th too, so we will be getting a baby from the same province and traveling to China together. God is AMAZING!!! We are praising Him for this great news!!!

Rosie @ Camp Pinnacle

Tuesday, June 19, 2007

Rosie, Hannah (our next door neighbor), and Abby (a friend from church) all went to Camp Pinnacle in Clayton, GA yesterday. We followed two other girls Rosie's age and all stopped @ Wendy's for lunch. We then got in line @ the gate to enter. We went in around 12:30 and started the registration process. There was some confusion about Hannah's paperwork, but in the end, it all worked out and we got them settled into their cabin.
One of their counselors is Ms. Nancy. She is a student @ Truett McConnel and was so sweet to the girls when they came in. Rosie noticed some things on a table that looked to be from China so we asked her and she said yes, she had been to China on a mission trip and would be returning in the next year. We were so excited to tell her Rosie had been when we adopted Ella and would be returning to get Shaylee. (Don't they favor just a little?)
I pray Rosie has the time of her life this week. I think she was a little unsure when I left, but I know having Hannah and Abby there will make it great!

P.S. Savannah and Amelia are @ Destin for a retreat called Beach Blast. I probably won't have pictures from their trip until they return home. Also, we are for sure moving next Friday, June 30. The movers will be here bright and early. So... I am off to get some packing done.

Father's Day

Monday, June 18, 2007

Father's Day was a great day for our family. One day late I want to pay tribute to the two most important dads I know. First is my own dad whom I have loved the longest. I wrote on his card how proud I am to be his daughter. My dad, Max, is strong, steady, responsible, and hardworking. He has always set such a strong work ethic in front of us. He always took us to church no matter what and always expected the very best from us. I am so thankful for my father.

The second dad I know is the father of my daughters. Scott is the most gentle, kind, loving, secure, easy-going, responsible, unselfish, Christian man. He sets such an amazing example of unconditional love to me and the girls. He puts us first always before himself. He tries so hard to be home on time each day to spend time with us. He would rather hang out with us than golf, fish, hunt, or just about anything else. As a matter of fact, most of what we do, we do as a family. I am so thankful our daughters see such a Godly example of what their soulmate is to be. I already pray with all my heart that each one- Savannah, Amelia, Rosemary, EllaKate, and Shaylee will find the same precious love in a husband that God has blessed me with. I know they are out there, and I pray God's richest blessings on each life.

What are we up to? Amelia, EllaKate, and I are all in Hartwell this week. Amelia has Gymdawg camp @ her gym this week 9-3 so we are here while Scott, Savannah, and Rosie are all in Atlanta. Rosie wanted to go to bible school @ our church, so Savannah is taking her back and forth. She also needs to practice for Summer Music workshop each day as well. Today I cleaned the house from top to bottom while Amelia was @ gym. EllaKate played around wherever I was. She loves this house. She seems to be able to keep herself busy here. The stress level here is much lower because I'm not waiting for someone to show the house.

Adoption News: Our dossier is in translation in CO and hopefully will be mailed to China this week!!!
