21 Months Old

Wednesday, December 27, 2006

EllaKate turned 21 months yesterday! Where is the time going? She is growing and changing each day. We moved her toys to a cabinet in the family room, and on Friday she took everything out and got inside herself. She had more fun getting in and out than playing with the toys. She constantly makes us laugh. We are still in awe that God chose her for our family. Now our friends in Hartwell have their referral and will be traveling to Hunan, China in March to get their precious daughter! What a wonderful blessing they have in store!!!

Christmas Finale

Monday, December 25, 2006

For our Christmas Fanale, we went to Tony and Susan's for Christmas dinner (delicious!!!). Susan had cooked a wonderful meal so we ate around 5pm. The girls opened gifts and we all just sat by the fire, talked, and watched football - the perfect holiday! Uncle Larry and Aunt Jennifer came over too. Before the holidays, I had purchased a gingerbread house for the girls to make. They decided to take it with them and make it for Aunt Susan since she had not been feeling all that well. Susan loved it and when we went to see her New Year's Day, she had it displayed on her glass shelf. The girls thought that was GREAT! We had the best Christmas ever!!!

Christmas Day

Christmas was so great! The girls woke up around 7am and came in to get us. They waited on the stairs for us check for Santa and to turn on the lights. When EllaKate went around the corner, her eyes were so big and she said, "Oooooooo!!!". We all were in awe of her wonder and watched her for the longest time! Finally, the big girls realized they had presents too and began opening them. Probably EllaKate's favorite toy was her vacuum cleaner. She has really enjoyed pulling and pushing it around the house.

All the presents from us to each other had white ribbon tied around them. One of the sweetest moments was when Ella picked up a ribbon that was still tied and put it around her neck. I immediately snapped her picture because it was as if she realized she was the BEST present our family had been waiting on for sooooooooooooo long!!! As I would say in China every time we reached a new milestone on the trip, "Thank you Jesus!!!". Christmas Day was a day to say, "Thank you Jesus" for many reasons- Ella being the biggest!!!

A Great Christmas

Friday, December 22, 2006

On Christmas Eve, we went to the Lopes' home for dinner, presents, and dessert. We went over around 5:30 and had a great spaghetti dinner!!! We really enjoyed the time together as families. A family they have known for years was there for the holidays so we loved getting to know them too. Ashley, the daugher, and Savannah had met before a couple of times and become best friends over the past two years. They loved every minute they spent together. We all enjoyed opening presents and then left for our Christmas Eve service @ our church. We love going each year because we observe the Lord's Supper and end with candle light. It is a very moving service and allows us all to stop and really think on the birth of Jesus Christ. After the service, we went back to the Lopes' and enjoyed dessert. I think we got home around 10:30- just in time to get in bed before Santa came.

The Friday before Christmas, we went to Hartwell to have Christmas with my family. My sister, Marcia was home from Charleston and we wanted to celebrate with her family. We went up that morning and helped mama with the cooking. We all ate lunch together (the best ever!!!), and then gathered around the tree to open presents. The kids had a ball and all received exactly what they wanted. It was a rainy day so we all just hung out, ate dessert, and talked until night. We did go down and visit with Susan and Tony for a little while.

Our Christmas was so special since we felt complete with EllaKate. She loved every part of Christmas from the tree to all the food. Probably the kick off to the season was Rosemary's Cardinal Chorus concert. We all went to hear her on the Tuesday before they got out for the holidays. Jason was sick, but Amy came to listen too!

Christmas @ Spivey's

Monday, December 18, 2006

On Saturday, Amelia had her Christmas party @ Spivey's Gym. We were able to go out in the gym to take some pictures while the girls played around. Amelia went through some of her routines, and I took lots of pictures. Her best friends there are Ashleigh and Erica. They all exchanged presents, and gave presents to the coaches. EllaKate played with the owners' little girl, Christina. Amelia will be competing level 7 starting in January.

Memommy's Birthday!

Friday, December 8, 2006

On Tuesday, we took a trip to Hartwell to celebrate Memommy's birthday. Jason, Amy, PaPa, and our family took Pop and Memommy to Cateechee Country Club for dinner. It was a wonderful night to enjoy time together as a family! EllaKate was good as gold!!!

Our Santa Visit

Thursday, December 7, 2006

Thursday, December 7, EllaKate was 20 months old. We took her to see Santa for the first time. We had spent time talking to her, reading to her, and going by to see Santa before we went on this adventure. The girls put her down to see if she would walk over to see him. She just stood there. Rosemary picked her up and placed her on Santa's knee. EllaKate did not move a muscle the whole time. She just looked up at his face and stared. He talked to all of them and we took pictures. We look forward to all the wonderful toys he drops off on Christmas morning!

Rosie's Holiday Lunch

Scott, EllaKate and I went to Duncan Creek Elem. for Rosemary's holiday luncheon. The lights were low, beautiful music was playing, and a delicious meal had been prepared. We listened to Rosemary's chorus sing some Christmas songs. It was delightful!!!

The Weekend

Friday, December 1, 2006

This past weekend was one of sadness and celebration. Our family said goodbye (for now) to the matriarch of the Ankerich family. MaMa Ankerich was a precious soul to us all. We spent every day Friday to Monday in Hartwell with our family. Even though it was a sad time, we all reconnected as an extended family. The kids probably had the most fun of all. They played outside during the day and at night they came in for a very fun game of hide-and-seek. The funeral was priceless. Scott spoke of the amazing life his mom and dad had shared. What a wonderful example they have set for us to follow. God truely blessed our family in a supernatural way and for that we are very thankful!!!

Sad and Happy...

Thursday, November 30, 2006

Scott and I got the call last night that his mom, MaMa Ankerich, had passed away. Many of you will remember she became ill while we were all in Myrtle Beach on vacation this summer. She has been in and out of the hospital ever since. This was one of many times she fell ill since Mr. Ankerich died 3 years ago. We are all very sadden with her loss, but rejoice that she is healed in heaven with Jesus Christ and is reunited with PaPa Ankerich. Christmas was her favorite holiday, so we will miss her especially at this time of year. As a friend of mine explained to her little son, "She will be celebrating Jesus' birthday in person in heaven this year!" What a wonderful thought!!! We will always remember all the wonderful things about her, especially how much she loved her grandchildren, greatgrands, greatgreatgrands, AND greatgreatgreatgrands!!!What a great legacy she has left here and big shoes for me to fill as her son's wife. I pray I can be the wife and mother she has always been, because I am married to the most AMAZING man. I am so thankful she had him and allowed me to love him for the rest of my life!!! We will miss Louise Frances Ankerich forever.
